Feasibility Study of Social Enterprise Models

MA’AN Development Centre is an independent Palestinian development and training institution established in January, 1989, registered by law as a non-profit organization. The main office is in Ramallah and the other branch offices are located in Gaza, and Jenin. MA’AN's work is informed by the necessity of creating independent, self-reliant initiatives that lead to the development of human resources for sustainable development, which incorporate values of self-sufficiency and self-empowerment.

MA’AN currently is implementing a project entitled “Promoting Sustainable Jobs for Youth through Self-Employment”. The project is implemented in partnership with the Belgian Development Agency and funded by the European Union, and aims at enhancing youth capacities and opportunities to access inclusive and sustainable self-employment opportunities. In addition, it supports equipping vulnerable young females and males with resilience skills by applying inclusive, gender-sensitive, and environmentally friendly strategies. and aims at enhancing youth capacities and opportunities to access inclusive and sustainable self-employment opportunities. MA’AN is seeking the services of a professional and highly qualified consultancy firm to conduct a feasibility study for the current three social enterprise models addressing the legal, technical, and economic feasibility of the models. In specific, and for each social enterprise model, the consultant is expected to conduct the following:

  • Market feasibility study: This includes competitiveness of current products, identification of new competitive products, examining the current market and its size, identifying potential opportunities for market growth, and conducting competitor’s and customer analysis.
  • Technical feasibility study: This includes assessing the current technology and production lines, existing infrastructure, suitability of site, current labour-force, current production inputs, and assessing technology systems and software applications if applicable
  • Economic feasibility study: This includes undertaking detailed financial analysis for the current financial statements, conducting cost analysis for the fixed and variable costs, and evaluating the revenue sources of the businesses including the pricing strategies and revenue streams.
  • Legal feasibility study: this includes assessing the compliance of the business's operations with relevant legal requirements, reviewing existing contracts and agreements with customers and suppliers, evaluating the business's property rights and trademarks, and evaluating the business's compliance with employment and labor laws.
  • SWOT Analysis: Conducting a comprehensive analysis of the business's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) in order to identify areas of competitive advantage and areas that require improvement or mitigation
