Background

The Jerusalem Human Rights Consortium (JHRC) is a consortium of four leading Palestinian human rights organizations native in Jerusalem – The Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Centre (JLAC), The Land Research Centre (LRC), The Saints Yves Association (St Yves) and the Women’s Centre for legal Aid and Counselling (WCLAC).

The consortium has started the implementation of the project Protecting Marginalized Communities in East Jerusalem through legal aid, planning and advocacy, funded by the EU East Jerusalem Programme. The overall objective of the project is to support the marginalised Palestinian communities in East Jerusalem, increase their resilience, prevent forcible transfer and reinforce the Palestinian identity of East Jerusalem through the provision of legal aid, land planning assistance, and local and international advocacy efforts.

In partnership with Palestinian and European organisations, JHRC is organising a multi-day event that will gather the principal human rights actors active in Palestine and Europe in order to address several key challenges.

JHRC is planning to develop a new visual identity for the event that is going to be used on all online and offline event material. To ensure the best experience to event participants, the visual identity should be cohesive, consistent and recognisable across all of the event’s web-based, electronic and print visible elements. JHRC is inviting proposals from qualified agencies/consultants with a track record of success in envisioning, proposing and designing fresh and powerful visual identities. 

Job description

The graphic designer’s main tasks will be to creatively conceptualise, propose, develop and produce all elements of the event’s visual identity including a logo, typography, graphics, colour palette, shapes, imagery, layouts, illustrations and fonts used on any design output of the event (website, social media platforms, emails, prints, press releases, publications and collaterals).

Work location: Ramallah

Job type: Consultancy

Starting date of assignment: as soon as possible

Duration of contract: five months, with a possible 1-month extension.

Required skills and work experience

Candidates should demonstrate their experience and qualifications in graphic design by providing a portfolio with examples of their work. In particular, they should:

Have a broad knowledge of current graphic design technologies and tools in the field

A good understanding of quality design composition, conceptual layout through to final design presentation and typography

Demonstrate the ability to create innovative and visually appealing designs

Have excellent knowledge of recent trends in graphic design

Language requirements

Candidates should:

Be fluent in Arabic.

Have a working knowledge of English.

Brief presentation of the team, with CVs, and functional responsibilities of the key experts to be engaged in the development of the visual identity

Proposed methodology, approach (creative and innovative ideas) and brief implementation plan with proposed timeframe for pre-production and postproduction;
