Hygiene Promoters

MA’AN has been working on implementing a project entitled “WASH and Nutrition Humanitarian Response in Gaza”. The project is funded by Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The project is planned to target two areas in the Gaza strip, Al Shoka area in the southern side of Rafah governorate and Al Moghraga area in the middle of Gaza strip. The two localities suffer from poor infrastructure of water and sanitation which cause poor WASH and hygiene conditions for the population there. Many households in the two localities have poor water and potable water storage tanks. In addition, many of the households have un safe/ un healthy toilets or kitchens. Finally, many of the houses. Concerning the sewage disposal system, many of the households use the cesspits which are in poor and unsafe conditions.

MA’AN is seeking hygiene promoters to start and launch an awareness campaign in order to

improve the basic water, sanitation and hygiene conditions of the most vulnerable people in the both Al Shoka and Al Moghraga areas

The expected key qualifications:

Minimum university degree in the field of public health, WASH, social/environmental science or any relevant field.

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in related field.

Solid experience in public awareness and hygiene promotion context in the Gaza Strip.

Good knowledge and proven experience in the communication for development strategy and the key related approaches.

Good knowledge about the WASH situation in the Gaza Strip.

Good knowledge of and extensive practice in gender approach.

Good knowledge of activities monitoring and evaluation.

Previous experience with international and local NGOs.

Required personal characteristics and skills.

Computer skills, in particular MS Applications.

Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in both Arabic and English.

Ability to work under pressure.

Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks while fostering quality, team spirit and positive working relationships with colleagues.

Display cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability, with qualities of patience and diplomacy.

Demonstrate integrity by modelling the NGO’s values and ethical standards.

Excellent communication skills and ability to properly represent MAAN.

The awarded Consultant of this offer will be required to pay for the cost of this advertisement.

Offers will be assessed first on their technical merit using the evaluation criteria below. Only technical scores of at least 70 points will qualify for the financial review. The financial offer weight is 30% from the total weight while the technical offer is 70% of the total weight.
