Peace and Conflict Assessment
CBM Christian Blind Mission e.V. (CBM) is looking for an experienced professional to conduct a Peace and Conflict Assessment for a planned project in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian Territories. This assignment will be based on consultancy work for approximately 20 days between April and May 2021.
CBM will submit a project proposal for transitional aid to the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The planned project will be implemented by 2 Palestinian NGOs and seeks to promote a disability-inclusive approach through its activities with a special focus on women and girls at risk of or surviving gender-based violence.
The assignment will use the methodological framework of a Peace and Conflict Assessment (PCA), which includes:
- Description of the main factors leading to conflict, fragility and violence & needs for peace
- Assessment of the relevance of the planned project to peace and security
- Definition of risks and the risk management in the context of conflict, fragility and violence
- Guidance on monitoring impacts and avoiding negative impacts
The consultant is expected to work with a diverse set of methods such as desk review, (remote) interviews, (remote) focus group discussions, (remote) analysis workshop and assessment report writing. The PCA is expected to be conducted in a disability-inclusive, participatory and a gender as well as conflict-sensitive approach.
- Do you have a background in Social Sciences, International Development or Health related studies or similar?
- Do you have proven experience conducting PCAs?
- Are you familiar with the academic and policy literature surrounding the causes and consequences of violent conflict, conflict-sensitivity and do no harm assessments?
- Do you have excellent analytical and writing skills?
- Do you have technical expertise in the field of disability inclusive development and in the areas of gender-based violence, mental health and psycho-social support?
- Have you previously worked with NGOs, INGOs or the government?
- Are you proficient in written and spoken English and Arabic?
- Do you have familiarity with the Deaf Culture and Knowledge of Arabic and / or Palestinian Sign Language (this would be an asset)?
