Problem Statement: Smart Beehive Management and Monitoring System for Al-Andalus Apiary For honey Production

About the company

Al-Andalus Apiary For honey Production is facing challenges in managing beekeeping operations efficiently due to traditional manual methods that are time-consuming and often incomplete. The company aims to transition to a more technologically advanced approach by implementing a smart beehive management system, including a mobile application and connected devices that monitor the health and productivity of beehives in real-time.

Problem Statement:
Problem Description: The current beekeeping processes involve manual note-taking, monitoring, and decision-making, which are inefficient and prone to errors. There is a need for a system that can automate the monitoring and management of beehives, ensuring accurate data collection and providing insights that can improve the overall efficiency of beekeeping operations.
Proposed Solution: The proposed solution involves developing and implementing a smart beehive management system that includes the following features:
IoT-Based Monitoring:
Integration of sensors to monitor key parameters within the beehives such as temperature, humidity, and hive weight.
Real-time tracking of beehive location using GPS to prevent theft and monitor movements.
Collection of data on bee activity, including hive buzzing and brood conditions.
Mobile Application - "Manhali":
A mobile app that allows beekeepers to log and monitor all beekeeping activities, replacing manual processes.
Features include tracking the condition of hives, queens, honey production, and monitoring for pests like Varroa mites.
The app serves as a decision support tool, providing insights and recommendations based on comprehensive data analysis.
Cloud-Based Data Management:
Data collected from the beehives is stored and processed in the cloud, enabling access to historical data, trends, and analytics.
The platform will support Android and iOS devices, ensuring accessibility for beekeepers.

Objective: To develop and implement a smart, technology-driven solution that automates the management of beekeeping operations, enhances decision-making, and improves the overall productivity and safety of beehives.
Value: This solution is expected to significantly increase the efficiency of beekeeping operations, reduce manual errors, and improve the quality and quantity of honey production. By leveraging modern technology, Al-Manar Beekeeping Company can ensure sustainable growth and maintain a competitive edge in the beekeeping industry.

Expected Outcome:
  • A working proof of concept within a period of 3 - 4 months
  • The proof of concept should include:
