Product development for Tahini and new recipes development

Tender Description

Background 

Abdallah Wassef & Sons Companyin cooperation with Cowater International, acting for the Trade Facilitation and Customs Support Programme (Tasdeer), is soliciting quotations from eligible and responsible suppliers oftechnical services of productdevelopment for Tahini and new recipes development. The Trade Facilitation and Customs Support Programme (Tasdeer) is an official program of the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Contract No. PO10054, and is being carried out in West Bank and Gaza. The objective of Tasdeer programme is to improve the Palestinian private sector competitiveness and the PA’s capacity in the fields of trade, customs and import policy regulation and administration. TASDEER programme aims to increase sustainable private sector led economic growth and job creation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including the West Bank and Gaza Strip and the PA’s fiscal sustainability while ensuring equitable access to increased trade, and improved institutional capacity. Gender Equality and Social Inclusion are main tools and objectives for Tasdeer to ensure the benefits of the programme are equally accessed by the diverse groups of men and women in the supply chain. 

Suppliers are responsible for ensuring that their offers are received in accordance with the instructions stated herein. Failure to adhere with instructions described herein may lead to disqualification of a proposal from consideration.

Offers must be received no later than on 08/5/2023. Offers received after this date or time will be considered late and will be considered only at the discretion of Company address.

 

Instructions for Submission of Offers

Each offeror must submit its proposal in two separate attachments: The Technical proposal shall be submitted in separate attachment from the financial proposal.

All offers must be prepared in English.

 

Objectives of this assignment:

AWS Company with the support of Tasdeer program will contract an external expert specialized in Tahini products development (Technical services/Product development for Tahini and new recipes development) to achieve the following objectives:

  • Development of a smoother version of Tahini suitable for Squeeze bottles 
  • Development of different recipeswith different flavours for the squeeze bottles Tahini 

Scopeofthe assignment:

AWS is currently planning to introduce a new product line; Tahini in squeeze bottles with different flavours. Tahini needs to be smoother/ less thick to suit the squeeze bottles. AWS needs to develop the recipe to produce the smoother Tahini. Moreover, the newly developed product will be introduced in different flavours. AWS will contract with product development expert to develop the new recipes. The service provider shall work closely with AWS team to provide the technical formula and the complete guidelines to develop the smoother Tahini recipe and the recipes for “Zatar, Pesto, Spicy Harrisa, Amba, Sumaq”flavoured Tahini. Moreover, AWS is looking for developing a fully natural squeeze-bottles Tahini in addition to avoiding the sedimentation that results of product being on the shelf.

To achieve this, the expert shall work on the following tasks: 

  • Task 1: Kick off meeting to understand AWS production process and develop a precise action plan for the assignment. 
  • Task 2: Develop the smoother Tahini recipe, taking into consideration developing a fully natural squeeze-bottles Tahini in addition to avoiding the sedimentation that results of product being on the shelf.
  • Task 3: Develop recipes with different flavours for the squeeze bottle Tahini:
  • A total of five flavoured recipes will be developed
  • The following flavours are suggested:
Zatar
Pesto 
Spicy Harrisa 
Amba
Sumaq

Provide the technical formula and the complete guidelines to develop the smoother Tahini flavoured recipes. 

Duration: 

The expected duration of the consultancy services will be fourmonths (starting in April 2023).
