MA’AN is an independent Palestinian development and training institution, established in January 1989 and registered by law as a non-profit organization. The main office is located in Ramallah and the other branch offices are located in Gaza, and Jenin. MA’AN's work is informed by the necessity of creating independent, self-reliant initiatives that lead to the development of human resources for sustainable development, which incorporate values of self-sufficiency and self-empowerment.
MA’AN, in partnership with OXFAM and in collaboration with and the support of the WFP and the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) is currently implementing the second phase of the project “Economic Empowerment and Building Livelihood Resilience of Vulnerable men and women in the Gaza Strip” which aims to strengthen the livelihood resilience of vulnerable men and women in the Gaza Strip through economic empowerment activities. As part of this project, MA'AN will support 90 vulnerable households from different areas in the Gaza Strip to establish small-scale income-generation projects (IGAs), mainly related to plant production and animal husbandry. In addition, the target group will be provided with capacity building activities including technical training related to plant production or animal husbandry, training on livelihood planning and management, and on-site coaching.
MA'AN is looking for a qualified consultant groups to deliver training on livelihood planning and management and on-site coaching services for 90 vulnerable households from all over the Gaza Strip. The targeted households suffer from difficult socio-economic conditions and food insecurity that undermine their resilience and severely affect their livelihoods. Therefore, they will be provided with production units related to animal husbandry and plant production to enhance their economic resilience and mitigate their vulnerability. A livelihood mapping will be conducted by MA’AN for a larger pool of beneficiaries, which will be nominated by the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD), to select the final beneficiaries of the project, who should have the technical capacity to run small-scale businesses related to animal husbandry and plant production. The final beneficiaries should have the desire and technical expertise to start a new livelihood project in addition to basic technical skills, but they lack the knowledge and skills related to livelihood project planning and management.
