Terms of Reference

Médecins du Monde Suisse (MdM CH) is looking for a Consulting Services to carry out 11 or more recreational activities (open day) in East Jerusalem (5 schools in Silwan, az-Za'ayyem,Shufat Camp, Jabal Al Mukaber, Old city of Jerusalem), and in Hebron (3 schools in Old city of Hebron, Twaneh village and Al Fawwar Camp), and in Bethlehem ( 3 schools in Beit Jala, Al Khader and Tuqu) as a part of the project “Improve Palestine conflict-affected population access to quality Mental Health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services, while strengthening the resilience of the health system and vulnerable communities in oPt” 

Introduction

Médecins du Monde, an independent international non-governmental organization founded in 1980, provides humanitarian relief and development aid to those in greatest need. The organization operates within the principles of medical ethics and humanitarian assistance and is currently active in more than 65 countries around the world. Doctors of the World - Switzerland was established in 1993 and has been operating in Palestine since 1994.

Project Summary

The specific objective of the project is to increase the access of affected population to quality, inclusive, gender focused and resilient MH services, focusing on supporting local initiatives at secondary and community level to improve and expand quality comprehensive MHPSS services. MH units in hospitals will be fully functional and health staff capacities will be strengthened. The project will also strength the capacities of education professionals from 25 institutions on MHPSS and protection, and will be able to incorporate them with students, families, transmit the acquainted knowledge to more personnel. The intervention will be built across a continuum of collaboration with the teachers and school counsellors, adopting lessons learnt from previous projects. Community members, including vulnerable women, children and PWD will have access to health, MHPSS and education services that consider their individual and collective specific needs and confidentiality. Local communities will increase their coping skills and be able to support more affected community members. It is expected that students at risk of drop-out will overcome the academic and psychological obstacles they face. Lastly, community and local initiatives will acquire emergency preparedness and response skills, by encouraging their way their independence and self-sufficiency.

Scope of Assignment

In the frame of this project activity, Médecins du Monde Suisse is planning to conduct 11 open days for students and their parents in 3 areas (locations are mentioned above) where students and parents will participate actively in this activity. Following the application received, more than one service provided could be selected, to achieve the result of 11 open days in total. 

Service provider shall consider the following aspects:

Provide 2 hours (for each day) of stress release and group activities, focusing on interactive theatre plays, Sport, games, or other fun and games activities.
The theme of the day shall be within the Mental Health subjects such as: protection, Importance of school counselling, Mental health stigma in the community, school violence, etc..
Participants in each activity will be around 300-400 participants in each location.
Service provider shall address in the price offer all costs and needs such as: transportation, sound system, any other needs for the activity)
Provide detailed information about activities (type of games, name and description of the theater play) and their link with the improvement of the psychosocial well-being of the participants.
All activities shall be child friendly, gender-wise-oriented, and accessible/sensitive for persons with disabilities.

Time frame

Terms of Payment

The remuneration of the service provided will be done (50% 2 weeks after the signature of the agreement, 20% after conducting 50% of the activities, the last instalment will be paid after finalizing the rest of the activities (30%)  

Required Skills and Experience

The applicant is expected to have the following qualification:

Have experience in working with children and caregivers (families), providing recreational activities such as open days, theatre exhibition/workshop, family activities, ventilation activities…etc
Familiarity and experience with psychosocial related activities is strong added value.
Ability and flexibility to provide such activities in open area such as School yard, open stage, community centres, …etc.

Theatre profile and past experience in similar tasks.
