Consultancy Contract

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology – Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at Birzeit University needs to contract “Subject Matter Experts/ Senior Expert” to design, supervise and deliver a specialized training program in “Promoting Upcycling in Circular Economy through Innovation and education for creative industries in Mediterranean cities Project. The training targets handicraftsmen and artisans working in the field of circular economy/ recycling approach from the cities of Hebron and Nablus.

The Expert will also design, supervise, review and report a field research aims to study the project Holistic Approach, CCI sector Value Chains and Clustering Roadmaps in Hebron and Nablus cities.

Qualifications:

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, business administration, economics, accounting, art, environmental studies, product design or any related field

Master or PhD degree is an asset.

Proficiency in both English and Arabic
Strong math and statistical skills

Experience:

In-depth knowledge of local SMEs, Cultural and Creative Industries and Circular Economy fields
Experience in tourism sector is a plus
Experience in setting new business models
Experience in developing new product portfolio
Experience in building networking schemes and clusters on sectorial level for both local and regional levels
Experience in business coaching and mentoring
Proven experience in training including: needs assessment, training design, material development, training delivery and evaluation
Extensive and proven experience in field of research
Knowledgeable in various research and testing methodologies
Proven experience in writing research reports
Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite
Perform objective and ethical research at all times
Effective communicator, both orally and written

Tasks and responsibilities:

Supervision and revision of final draft of the strategy design for Specialization of the INNOMED-UP’s Holistic Approach at a local level according to guideline from project leader for Hebron and Nablus

Supervision and revision of final draft of CCI value chains Map and existing interactions with CE models using the information collected from SMEs and relevant stakeholders for Hebron and Nablus
Supervision and revision of final draft of the clustering roadmaps in Hebron and Nablus according to guideline from project leader
Development and sharing of all training tools and templates to be used by international project partners according to guideline
Revision of training material / tools/ templates developed by all partners according to guideline
Development of training material for 3 training days in Hebron and 3 Days in Nablus in the field of innovation management and design thinking according to guideline
Supervision of local trainers (or from other countries if any) that will develop remaining training days in Hebron and Nablus according to guideline
Delivery of 3 training days in Hebron and 3 Days in Nablus in the field of innovation management and design thinking according to guideline
Supervision of local trainers (or from other countries if any) that will deliver remaining training days in Hebron and Nablus according to Draft Guidelines
Supervise the delivery of trainings in other participating cities.
