UNESCO Ramallah office wishes to enter into a Long Term Arrangement (LTA) with organizations\Individuals for providing translation/interpretation/proofreading services on a need basis for official UN documents, meetings, workshops and conferences.

Based on the below Terms of Reference, UNESCO Ramallah office would like to request a price offer using the exact format in the table below:

Translate documents and texts from English to Arabic and Arabic to English within the areas listed below:

Culture
Education
Media
Gender
Legal Documents
General Documents

Reproduction as accurate as possible, preserving the meaning of the source text and in line with the terminology used in the text of the UNESCO Convention/s.
If the terminology used in the Arabic version is not in line with those of the conventions, the translator should suggest the alternative words, closest to the text of the conventions and its Operational Guidelines.
Communicative, expressing all aspects of the meaning in a way that is readily understandable to the intended audience by using excellent language, vocabulary, expression and grammar as well as all relevant terminology.
Ensuring quality check and proofreading of translation.
Provide simultaneous interpretation services (English to Arabic and Arabic to English) during meetings, conferences, workshops.
Provide the simultaneous interpretation systems including the interpreter booth (Mixer, sound system, headset receivers for participants and interpreters, microphones for interpreters and for participants, transmission system).
Proofreading documents and texts in English and Arabic.

Selection Criteria and Qualifications:

University degree in English (Foreign Language), translation (English/Arabic) or related field.

Minimum 5 years of professional experience in translation from English to Arabic and vice versa and editing/proofreading.

Proven experience in translations from English to Arabic and vice versa

Demonstrated experience in translating professional documents

Outstanding translation and editing skills in English and Arabic;

Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills in English and in Arabic

Ensure electronic communication mechanism to include facility for downloading large reports.

Willingness to work flexible hours in order to meet project deadlines.

Experience in translating UN documents in general and UNESCO in particular will be considered favorable.

Demonstrate effective organizational skills and ability to handle work in an efficient and timely manner

Fully proficient in computer and email skills

Samples of previous work will be requested.

All original proposals for offer are to be dated, stamped and signed on each page, enclosed in a sealed envelope and delivered BY HAND or scanned to pdf and sent by email with the heading:

Received, by the deadline date and time, subject to the following:

Send formal offer proposal on company letterhead, dated, signed and stamped with clearly indicated unit costs excluding VAT (UNESCO is VAT exempted) based on the excel table attached (No. 1 and 2) and complete all columns fully as applicable for your experience.

Indicate the validity period of the price offer (12 months validity preferred).

Each proposal must be attached to a copy of this offer (which must also have the stamp and signature of the supplier on each page as acknowledgement of the terms of offer)

All offers must include the following certification -

“All the goods/services to be provided under the terms of this offer are available and the company/individual holds a bank account in the same name as indicated on the letterhead or offer”

Full company profile or curriculum vitae detailing the previous experience, references or links and services offered (max two pages).

The contractor guarantees that the prices specifies in this offer are the maximum prices that shall remain firm and shall not be increased during the entire term of the long term arrangement and validity period.
