Voice of Farmers Magazine
Voice of Farmers Magazine
Background & Introduction:
The Palestinian Farmers' Union (PFU) is broadly recognized as the Palestinian farmers' network with active Governorate Farmers' Associations (GFAs), members that represent farmers from all agricultural sectors and communities to defend their rights, and interests and to achieve a more securing and enabling policy, business environment. It provides quality services to strengthen farmers' skills to produce better, process and market their commodities and better cope with shocks and changes.
In partnership with Oxfam, the Palestinian Farmers' Union (PFU) is implementing a project titled "Power of Voices Partnership, Fair4All" that aims to increase the accountability of government, responsiveness, and fairness through implementing better mechanisms related to agriculture policies that will achieve farmer aspirations and rights.
CONTEXT
Agriculture plays a crucial role in the Palestinian economy, providing livelihoods for a significant portion of the population and contributing to food security. However, Palestinian farmers face numerous challenges, including access to resources, market opportunities, agricultural practices, and the impact of political and social factors.
In order to amplify the voices of farmers at national, regional, and international levels, the Palestinian Farmers Union (PFU) is undertaking the development of a dedicated publication known as the Voice of Farmers Magazine. This magazine aims to serve as an effective informative advocacy tool about farmers' rights and challenges. The publication will be released on a semi-annual basis, disseminating information at both regional and international platforms.
The Voice of Farmers Magazine will offer informative articles about proposed legislation, regulations, and policy amendments that can potentially influence farmers' rights. In addition, the magazine will showcase success stories that highlight the resilience of Palestinian farmers, sharing examples of policy requests and interventions implemented by PFU that have contributed to improving their agricultural environment.
Overall, the publication will serve as a comprehensive source of information, shedding light on the hardships, challenges, problems, and obstacles faced by Palestinian farmers.
