Accountant
The Society of St. Yves, the Catholic Center for Human Rights is a Catholic Church related organization operating with the aim to serve the poor and marginalized Palestinians. The Society of St. Yves is looking to hire an accountant for its joint EU funded project: “People with disabilities (PWDs) in East Jerusalem enjoy improved living conditions”. This project will be implemented in partnership and coordination with the Swedish organization Diakonia.
The successful candidate for this position will be contracted for one year (renewable). He/she will be responsible for providing financial information to upper management, by researching and analyzing accounting data as well as maintaining a satisfactory financial system, cash accounting, record keeping, and provide timely and accurate financial information, and will be responsible for the following duties:
Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Documenting financial transactions by entering account information.
Responsible for verifying financial transactions.
Guiding staff by coordinating financial activities and answering questions.
Responsible for maintaining financial security by following internal controls.
Prepare payments by verifying documentation, including payment requests, supporting documents.
Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations and maintaining client confidence and protects operations by keeping them confidential.
Prepare monthly cash and bank reconciliations and conduct other duties related to this position as required by the upper management.
Minimum Requirements:
A university degree in accounting, finance or any other related Field.
2 to 3 years of experience in the accounting and finance field.
Ability and willingness to develop financial procedures.
Knowledge of financial standards, policies, and regulations that would help to have financial stability in the organization
Willingness to undertake meetings and financial briefings to donors and upper management as required.
