Chemonics International Ltd., a leader in global development, seeks full time Accountant for its USAID-funded Enhanced Palestinian Justice Program (EPJP) in Al-Bireh.
Position Objectives, Basic Functions/Critical Tasks:
Under the direction of the Finance Manager, the accountant will apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information, preparing financial reports, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures.
Specific tasks include:
-Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts including bank account reconciliation, journal entries and general ledger operations, monthly financial reports, accurate and timely financial reports, scanning of all financial documents and maintenance of quality for reporting purposes.
-Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation and maintenance of accounting and accounting control procedures. Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with USAID policies and procedures.
-Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
-Review all incoming invoices and ensure timely payment of payables.
-Assist the Finance Manager with preparation and coordination of the audit process.
-Prepare filing of financial and accounting records.
-Prepare monthly VAT refund reports.
-Assist the preparation of monthly non-expendable inventory changes and coordinate with relevant staff to conduct periodical physical office non-expendable inventory count.
-Prepare and calculate staff payroll and overtime for drivers and support staff.
-Perform other related finance and administrative tasks as required.
Education, Qualifications and/or Equivalent Experience:
-Knowledge of accounting and finance principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
-Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications.
-Knowledge of relevant USAID regulations.
-Good computer skills specially MS office.
-Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
-High degree of adaptability to varied working environments and good interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and teamwork skills.
-Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
-A minimum of three years of experience on USAID-funded projects.
-Strong written and spoken Arabic and English skills.
