The Business Women Forum (BWF) is a national non-profit organization established in 2006, to promote and empower the role of businesswomen and entrepreneurs as leaders in the Palestinian economy through advocacy, influence to create an enabling environment for women in Palestine. BWF works through a comprehensive methodology through provision of business development packages including capacity building, coaching, consultancy, and technical support necessary for their business, enhancing access to markets, financing, and knowledge, in addition to networking with local, regional, and global institutions and organizations.
BWF is seeking a qualified Accountant with experience working with international organizations to support the implementation of a five-year USAID-funded project titled “Raedat-Pioneers”. This project, implemented in collaboration with Global Communities, aims to empower communities for sustainable development, focusing on gender equity within the Palestinian community.
Position: Accountant: s/he will be reporting directly to the Financial Manager
Duration: Full Time (Sunday through Thursday) 08:00 AM until 04:00, (Friday and Saturday off)
Location: Ramallah
Estimated Starting Date: March 1, 2024
Main Responsibilities:
- Establishment and Maintenance of Accounting Procedures:
- Develop, implement, and coordinate accounting and control procedures.
- Ensure adherence to BWF, USAID policies, and local laws in maintaining financial records.
- Audit and Compliance:
- Assist the Finance Manager in coordinating the annual audit process and USAID compliance reviews.
- Manage filing of financial and accounting records to facilitate audits.
- Financial Management:
- Oversee staff payroll, salary slips, and income tax sheets.
- Post daily entries to the Bisan Accounting System.
- Monitor outstanding payables/receivables and conduct monthly control of accounts.
- Prepare all financial reports for project donors and management.
- Budgeting and Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
- Prepare VAT exemption letters and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Generate customized financial transaction reports as required.
- Administrative Support:
- Manage petty cash and conduct regular reconciliations.
- Assist in procurement processes and procedures when needed.
- Perform necessary entries for the closure of project accounts.
- Audit Preparation and Fixed Assets:
- Prepare for the audit of BWF financial statements at the end of each fiscal year.
- Manage the fixed assets register and produce reports for counting purposes.
- Additional Responsibilities: Undertake any other tasks the Executive Director or Financial Manager requests.

Qualifications:
- Accounting degree, minimum Bachelor level.
- Knowledge of accounting and finance principles.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar finance position.
- Knowledge of local laws and regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and financial/accounting software, especially BISAN.
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Enthusiastic, positive attitude, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize routine and ad hoc tasks.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with partners/beneficiaries to ensure compliance with donor policies and procedures.
- Strong commitment to gender equality and diversity.
- A driving license is a plus.
