Job Summary/ Scope of Work
The Accountant and Operations Assistant (100%) will play a key role in supporting the Finance Coordinator and ensuring the smooth operation of daily financial and administrative tasks. This position involves supporting the Finance Coordinator in ensuring that accounting processes and systems are running effectively and efficiently, enabling programme staff and other stakeholders to implement the War Child Programme in oPt. The Accountant and Operations Assistant are also responsible for complying with external donor financial and administrative requirements.
Based in the War Child office in Jerusalem, he/she will directly report to the Finance Coordinator (FC). The position involves traveling to War Child field offices. It requires high accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities, including financial data management, office administration, and logistical support.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Job Responsibility 1: Accounting Duties % 70 of time
1. Financial Data Management:
· Keep track of and monitor advances for War Child staff.
· Perform data entry of daily financial transactions on the accounting software (UNIT4).
· Maintain proper filing for all accounting entries, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
2. Transaction Review and Processing:
· Review financial transactions and supporting documents (invoices, contracts, payments, receipts) to ensure compliance with donor and War Child regulations.
· Prepare checks and bank transfers, follow up on their execution, and ensure proper documentation.
· Manage the petty cash box, ensuring accurate records and proper disbursement.
3. Reconciliations and Reporting:
· Conduct regular cash verification, prepare monthly bank and cash reconciliations, and assist in the monthly closing process.
· Follow up closely on supplier balances and monthly payments, including advances to partners.
4. Documentation and Compliance:
· Ensure the receipt of original financial documents from field offices.
· Ensure that all bookkeeping and financial documents for War Child and partners are compiled and organized according to international auditing standards and donor regulations.
· Maintain a systematic filing system for partners' documents and daily accounting transactions.
5. Audit Support:
· Assist in audit preparation, provide support during audits, and help implement audit recommendations.
· Ensure compliance with reporting deadlines and internal/external submission dates.
Job Responsibility 2: Operations Duties % 30 of time
1. Office Administration:
· Keep track of office supplies and inventory, ensuring timely replenishment.
· Handle the purchasing of office supplies and equipment, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
· Deliver documents between offices and external entities as needed.
2. Logistical and Procurement Support:
· Coordinate with banks for financial transactions, deposits, and withdrawals.
· Support the Finance Coordinator in managing daily office operations.
· Support with the procurement and logistical processes in the Jerusalem office.
· Support the Procurement and Logistics Team in Travel and Fleet.
3. General Support:
· Ensure that all administrative and financial records are properly maintained and up-to-date.
· Provide support to other Finance Officers and staff as required.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 2 to 3 years experience in similar positions with an NGO or INGO
- Logistics and procurement experience is an added value
- Result-oriented, attentive to detail, and cost-conscious;
- Excellent computer skills are required
- Fluency in English and Arabic, Hebrew is an added value.
- Works well in small team, flexible to take on new tasks, comfortable in a flexible working environment;
- Based in Jerusalem and willing to travel to the West Bank
