SOS Children’s Villages International (SOS CVI) is a dynamic social development organisation active in over 132 countries worldwide, working to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of orphaned and vulnerable children. It operates through a federation network of National Associations (NAs) across the globe, working in the areas of child development and emergency response.

SOS Children’s Villages Palestine is currently recruiting for its interim care center in Gaza City. The interim care center will serve as a temporary shelter for children who have either lost parental care or are at risk of losing this care.

Position: Activities Facilitator
Location: Gaza City

Line manager: ERP Project Manager
Contract: One year fixed term

Position summary: The activities facilitator is responsible for planning and implementing educational and leisure activities for children within or around the SOS interim care center. The facilitator will run a daily program from Sunday to Thursday. The day program consists of informal education, awareness session, psychosocial, life skills, cooking classes, and recreational, indoor and outdoor activities. Through his/her efforts the children are guided and supported to reach their full potential in developing professional and practical skills required to earn a living and lead a well-balanced life.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Encourages the care givers to play a significant role in their children’s education and well-being, stimulating their interest in learning within the home. Care givers must be guided to take a particular interest in the progress and achievements of the children at school, but also in the progress of social skills;
-Organize activities for the care givers on an occasional basis;
-Creates and maintains an effective relationship with local organizations offering extracurricular activities;

Qualifications and Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in education, or relevant field
-Minimum 1 year of practical experience in planning and conducting child development activities
-Effective communication skills- proficiency in written and spoken Arabic and English
-Is aware of child protection policy
-Strong commitment to working with mothers and children ages 2 to 14 years-old
