OHCHR OPT is a country office of the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. The office was established in 1996 and it implements the global mandate of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to promote and protect the full enjoyment of human rights by all, without discrimination. The office has approximately 50 staff with a main office in Ramallah, sub-office in Gaza and field presences in East Jerusalem and Hebron.
This position comes under the direct supervision of the National Operations Manager OHCHR OPT, who reports to the Deputy Head of Office under the guidance of the Head of Office OHCHR OPT.
Duties and Responsibilities
Within limits of delegated authority and depending on location, Office Assistants at this level may be responsible for the following duties-
Sorts and distributes or processes mail and other documents.
Uses basic keyboard and word processing skills to prepare forms and short documents (e.g. memos, letters, faxes,
reply personally to queries when possible.
Photocopies a variety of documents and other materials.
Delivers urgent mail/messages and materials for the Office Activities
Maintains - the office and equipment clean. functioning and adequately supplied
Operates a variety of office equipment in the performance of basic office functions, e.g. photocopier, facsimile, printer, scanner, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work implies frequent interaction with the following:
Staff in related organizational units.
Results Expected: Accurately completes work assignments, in a timely manner, requesting assistance when work assignments are unclear. Maintains accurate files/records. Establishes effective working relationships.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent is required
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in administration.
Experience in general office support or related area is desirable.
Previous experience with a UN Office in a similar function is desirable.
Language:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
For the post advertised, working knowledge of English and fluency in oral and written Arabic is required.
Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
