The Abraham Path is a long-distance walking trail across the Middle East. The path retraces the cultural memory of the journey of Abraham and his family and celebrates its story of hospitality and kindness to strangers. The Abraham Path Initiative (API) is an international organization cultivating the development of the path along with local and international partner organizations. The initiative is a non-profit, non-religious and non-political organization. The mission of the Abraham Path Initiative is to support local partners in developing the Abraham Path as:
a catalyst for socioeconomic development and sustainable tourism.
a place of meeting and connection between people from the Middle East and people around the world.
a creative space for stories that highlight the unique culture, heritage and hospitality of the region.
Responsibilities
The API administrative coordinator position is intended to provide administrative support to API staff and consultants in Jerusalem, especially in coordination of procurement, project finance and reporting to donor organizations. The ideal candidate would have experience with NGO project administration and have excellent technical writing skills.
Specific responsibilities include:
Coordinating the procurement of goods, services and consultants in accordance with donor standards
Drafting invitations to quote and managing quoting process for goods and services
Assisting with the organization of Terms of Reference for individual consultants and firms
Post listings for local hiring needs and manage applications
Assist in monitoring project finances
Follow donor procedures for requesting and disbursing funds in coordination with the API CFO
Process and manage invoices from local suppliers and contractors
Assist in project reporting
Coordinate narrative and financial reporting to donors
Provide assistance to international staff and contractors
Such as assistance with visa applications, housing, connecting to local services, providing informal translation
Perform a variety of administrative duties including, but not limited to:
maintaining office equipment and service contracts
coordinating payment of rent and taxes
purchasing materials for API activities
Job Requirements
Based in Jerusalem
Able to travel on all regions of the Abraham Path
Fluent in English
Arabic language fluency preferred
Minimum five years of experience in NGO project administration
Minimum bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred
Experience and Qualifications
Extremely detail-oriented and organized
Experience with procurement of goods and services (World Bank procurement experience preferred)
Experience drafting technical documents, such as Terms of References, contracts and project reports
Self-motivated & independent in project and time management, able to meet deadlines
Strong writing & editing skills in English
Computer proficiency, including good typing speed, comfortable with email, internet searches, and interacting with a variety of file types (Word, PDF, photo files)
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
