Assignment: The Effective Management of Water Resources (Smart Agriculture) - Assessment Study

Duty Station: Ramallah 

Sustainable Engineering Solutions (SES), a multi-disciplinary consulting company located in Ramallah-El Bireh is seeking to hire a highly qualified Agriculture Economist/ Project Manager to join our team for a short term assignment with the following minimum qualification and requirements:

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The Agriculture Economist/ Project Manager will lead the gathering of all inputs and development of the Agricultural Sector Assessment report.  The main activities are

• Literature review- collect available literature on current irrigation practices, water users, issues related to irrigation and water scarcity, key stakeholders in agricultural water use space.
• Engage with stakeholders – the ministries, farmers and associations, NGO’s donors and equipment vendors.   
• Preparation of the assessment study – includes sections on current situation and practices, challenges, donor funded activities, identification of large water users and then they want us to propose an approach for water saving including amounts and rationale. 
• Gather information on the agricultural sector in Gaza and the West Bank.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, or related.
• Master degree in business, economics, finance, marketing, or applied development Studies is preferred. 
• Extensive experience in developing projects concepts/proposals including the financial feasibility for the new interventions.
• At least 10 years of experience in managing programs/projects, relationships mainly donors and government. 
• Strong understanding and experience of the agribusiness market system facilitation/development. 
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with extensive experience in managing programs/projects, relationships (mainly donors and government), systems, businesses and people.
