Associate Architect - BIM
The Associate Architect - ( Building information modeling) BIM will report directly to the Lead Architect at the “ISSC”.
The Associate Architect will be in charge of ensuring the optimal and effective development, management, and coordination of design drawings using Revit software, thus enhancing the accuracy, efficiency, and quality of project documentation.
The Associate Architect will create and manage accurate BIM models using Revit, produce high-quality design drawings, ensure compliance with project standards, facilitate collaboration among stakeholders, perform clash detection, and maintain quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
The tasks would involve the following but not limited to:

Develop and manage BIM models in Revit for various project phases, including conceptual design, schematic design, detailed design, and construction documentation.

Ensure BIM models are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with project requirements and industry standards.

Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project team members using BIM.
-
Coordinate with external consultants and contractors to ensure seamless integration of design and construction documentation.
-
Act as a BIM resource for team members, addressing technical queries and issues.
-
Stay updated with the latest BIM technologies and practices to improve efficiency and quality
-
Assist with project closing reports and prepare periodic reports in accordance with UNOPS standards.
Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for the following substantive tasks:

Design Assistance:
-
Participating in preliminary assessment, planning, surveying, formulation and design, costing and documentation
-
Develop and convert the conceptual drawings and sketches into a technical workable in Revit format.
-
Prepare and develop construction drawings and details for the projects as instructed by the Architect.
-
Preparing and checking drawings and details as instructed by the Architect.
-
Assist in the standardization of drawings and the application through Revit;
-
Produce, develop and maintain BIM libraries and families.
-
Provide assistance, as needed, in the preparation and checking of the bill of quantities.
-
Support the design engineers to produce free-hand sketches and drawings and produce Building Plans.
-
Development and creation of standard templates, scales and naming conversions.
-
Ensuring Quality Control of all technical and graphical BIM products.
-
Preparing reports as required and submitting relevant information and recommendations for improvement and/or change to the Lead Architect on an ongoing basis.

Advising on good BIM practices.
-
Prepare, produce and compile the final sets of drawings in PDF and/or printout formats.

Quantity Surveying and measurement takeoffs
-
Drafting design documents such as design brief, design reports, Master plan, etc.
-
Design Review activities
-
Performed other duties as may be assigned.

Assist in checking the drawings before tendering and ensure that they comply with appropriate guidelines, and facilitate their use and interpretation during the execution of the project.

Modeling and 3D representation to enhance proposals and understanding by the various stakeholders.
-
Perform Graphic Design tasks for stakeholder’s presentations
-
Support documentation for any required approval
-
Printing and reproduction of the plans and maps using color and monochrome plotters.
-
Responsible for filing and arranging for compilation and storing of the plans in hard and soft copy.

Model Development & Coordination:
-
Develop models for various trades & system using Revit Software
-
Using of Spaces and Zones analysis tools, route analysis and Color Fill legends
-
Collaborate with design tools such as AutoCAD, 3D Max & Rhino
-
Generate renders and visualizations to support project presentations and reviews
-
Support clash detection & participate in meetings and workshops to review and resolve design issues
-
Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate design changes and updates into the BIM model.

Documentation:
Produce project documentation derived from BIM models as follow:
-
Produce project documentation derived from BIM models that include Layout Drawings include general & enlarged plans, callouts, Elevations & Sections, Schedules, and Legends

Ensure all drawings adhere to project specifications, standards, and client requirements.

Standards Implementation
Implement and adhere to BIM standards, protocols, and guidelines that include:
-
Follow naming convention & organization of views & sheets as per project standards
-
Follow naming convention for various types of system & loadable families
-
Implement LOD standards and Information exchange protocols at various design stages
-
Quality Control:
-
Perform quality checks on BIM models to verify accuracy and completeness
-
Checks to verify compliance with relevant standards and project requirements
-
Geometry & model integrity checks such as for gaps, overlaps, element properties
-

Administrative tasks
-
Organize and archive production files in accordance with the UNOPS archiving system
-
Submit the requested timesheet and applicable forms, as requested by UNOPS
-
Assist in Performing scheduling requested tasks related to the projects
-
Handling correspondence related to projects (emails, technical memos, reports)
-
-
Final Product
Deliver delegated tasks by the supervisor on time and as per the required quality parameters.

Sustainability and Environmental Considerations:

Incorporating sustainable design principles to minimize environmental impact and reduce operating costs.

Specifying energy-efficient lighting, HVAC systems, and materials with low environmental footprint.

Stakeholder Engagement:
-
Collaborating with healthcare providers, administrators, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the planning and design process.

Incorporating feedback and addressing concerns to ensure that the final design meets the needs of all stakeholders.

Documentation and Reporting:
-
Documenting the planning process, including design decisions, rationale, and recommendations.
-
Providing regular progress reports to the client and other stakeholders.

Monitoring and Progress Controls
-
Active participation in weekly Design progress meetings.
-
Maintaining, accurate, quality and completion documentation as identified in responsibilities above

Education
-
High School Diploma is required.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture is desirable and may substitute some years of experience
Work Experience
-
6 years or less (depending on academic credentials)of experience in BIM management and implementation is required.
-
Proven track record of producing high-quality design drawings using Revit is required.
-
Proficiency in Revit and all of its associated tools, including View, Annotation, Modeling, Editing, Family Editor, Linking, and Coordination is highly desired
-
Familiarity with collaboration tools like worksharing and BIM360 is a plus.
-
Strong understanding of BIM standards and protocols (e.g., ISO 19650, PAS 1192, etc.) is highly desired
-
Experience with clash detection, model coordination, and data management is highly desired
-
Possessing computer skills in using both google and Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.) is an asset.
-
Work Experience with an international Organization and/or UN Agencies is an asset.
Languages:
-
Full proficiency in Arabic and English is a necessity.
