Bethlehem University /Marketing Expert

The Institute for Community Partnership at Bethlehem University is seeking candidates for
the following position as part of the project; “Promoting Olive Oil Production and Market
Access for Small-Scale Olive Farmers – Funded by the European Commission”, and in
partnership with OXFAM G.B. and the Palestinian Farmers Union (PFU).
Position Title: Marketing Expert
Duration of Assignment: One Year (With potential for renewal)
The Marketing Expert will be responsible for creating a pilot marketing unit for a group of Olive Oil Cooperatives and providing the required support for the unit to become independently capable of exporting oil regionally and internationally. The purpose of the marketing unit is to strengthen the role of the producer groups on the marketing process, either directly or through stronger and fairer partnership with middlemen, including intermediary NGOs.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
1. Lead the efforts to organize cooperative and coordinate their production activities in order to enable them to engage in collective marketing initiatives.
2. Provide expertise and services to cooperatives to enable them to increase their understanding and know-how about commercial processes and marketing processes and marketing procedures.
3. Create sustainable partnerships with buyers or middlemen whether fair trade or conventional.
4. Undertake Mapping of International Fair Trade Markets and create a sustainable network with international fair trade organizations.
5. Work with other ICP team members to ensure proper coherence and synergy among tasks.
6. Provide coaching and mentoring for cooperatives to develop promotional plans and material.
7. Organize local and regional events for fair trade promotion.
Minimum Requirements:
- University degree in International Trade, Marketing or any relevant major.
- At least 5 five experience working in international trade, especially in the field of exporting
Palestinian products.
- Excellent communication and team work skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
