Gaza Sky Geeks, established in 2011 by Mercy Corps with support from Google, is Palestine’s leading tech hub that trains, nurtures, and supports emerging tech talent to create a sustainable and inclusive digital job market in Palestine. With 10 years of experience training globally recognized tech talent, Gaza Sky Geeks has served over 23,000 Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, 45% women, through training programs, workshops, and events.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
The Social & Brand Marketing Coordinator supports the marketing of Gaza Sky Geeks program activities and is responsible for the development and delivery of a cohesive social media presence and brand marketing presence in the local market as well as internationally. This is a highly collaborative position that requires excellent communication skills and expertise to be able to assess the needs of the program and business development teams and Leadorganic and paid social campaign content and delivery. This position will also execute the campaigns, with a keen focus on measurement and optimization of engagement and paid advertising spend.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy and Planning:
- Develop strategic marketing initiatives and activities for social media, including a social media marketing plan for programs and business development.
- Participate in content ideation and brainstorming sessions around Gaza Sky Geeks brand and scripted program campaigns.
- Develop proactive and reactive adaptable messaging plans to engage audiences across social and digital platforms.
- Lead creative development to motivate the target audience to “take action.” Set up KPIs that measure progress from digital platforms to tangible program and business outcomes as defined by management, and optimize strategy and activities based on lessons learned.
- Measure and report the performance of all marketing campaigns and assess ROI and KPIs.
Social Media:
- Manage GSG’s social media channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and other relevant platforms.
- Deliver program and business development marketing objectives as defined by the Communications and Program Officer
- Build and distribute content calendars for social media channels. Keep tracking documentation updated for easy reference across teams.
- Post content across social platforms in alignment with approved content calendars.
- Create branded advertising campaigns that align with GSG programs, and strategy.
- Manage social media engagement, and keep it up to date, including replying to comments, following up with CARM assistant on messages reply, and reporting.
- Monitor audience engagement and community activity to ensure effective content delivery.
- Plan the budget for advertising, and create customized ads.
- Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights, and best practices, and then acting on the information
- Monitor community groups and manage them.
- Report social media activities and recommendations from our audience.
Events Coverage:
- Create and design printable materials for events
- Attend the event and do the live coverage where needed
- Take photos from the events.
- Collect videos and testimonials from participants.
Graphic Designs:
- Define needed designs for each campaign.
- Collect information to be added to the design.
- Searching and collecting illustrations for the design.
- Creating the design.
- Review the design with the program.
- Create offline and online designs.
- Rebrand documents and presentations to be used for external audiences.
Brand Management
- Organize, manage, and brand assets for all digital, social, and printable materials.
- Align brand identity elements, such as brand voice (positioning, values, and personality), and visual language (logo, visual guidelines, and brand designs) with messaging, and content creation.
- Maintain brand consistency and introduce fresh ideas to executive effectiveness and creativity.
- Ensure that the team is socialized in brand guidelines and acts as an approver of brand usage.
- Support in conferences and presentations to properly present GSG’s brand.
Content Creation
- Write content for both print and web in Arabic, brochures, and social media.
- Write copy to accompany social posts, using a defined brand voice and platform standard methodologies to engage audiences.
Other:
- Manage Google Adwords spending and related SEO activities on the website.
- Jump in where other technical marketing, social and/or content optimization, and brand projects may be needed.
- External programs support content planning and creation, design creation, and brainstorming sessions with other program team members.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Supervise contractors like media companies and graphic designers.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least 3 years of experience in marketing and communications with a focus on social media engagement and/or brand marketing. Proficient in social media platforms and performance measurement tools.
- Strong familiarity with social media platforms and practices, online community management, and customer relationship management systems and up-to-date with social media trends, and hashtags.
- Excellent writing skills in English and Arabic with the ability to create content for diverse audiences and convey the GSG brand with creativity and professionalism.
- Creative mind and strategic thinker with exceptional creativity and innovation (up-to-date on the latest trends and tools).
- Good understanding of strategic brand management and the ability to ensure brand experience across various touch points (offline and online).
- Attention to detail is a must
- Great time management skills, initiative, and ability to prioritize the most impactful work first.
- Strong relationship management skills and emotional intelligence with a customer service attitude to ensure a positive and collaborative experience across diverse teams.
- University degree in, communication, media, business, or relevant fields with a strong interest in learning about technology and entrepreneurship
- Strong understanding of the social, political, and economic context of the Gaza Strip and West Bank, especially in the IT, education, and/or NGO sectors.
- Comfortable with exploring creativity and embracing new platforms
- Comfortable with making edits and adaptable to change.
