Chief Medical Officer (CMO)
Children’s Relief Bethlehem (CRB) is a Christian non-profit Association based in Lucerne/Switzerland. It operates Caritas Baby Hospital (CBH) in Bethlehem, the only hospital in the West Bank that is exclusively specialized in paediatric medicine. The guiding principle of the Association is deep respect for the dignity of all human beings irrespective of their social background or religion.
Caritas Baby Hospital was founded in Bethlehem in 1953. The hospital has a vision of providing “Better health, for all Children in Palestine” guided by its Christian values and principles as its work ethic. The hospital offers holistic healthcare and psychosocial support for tens of thousands of babies and children and their families annually. The treatment of patients of needy families is financially supported.
The hospital is a recognized pillar of the Palestinian health system in Pediatric Medicine and cooperates closely with the Ministry of Health and the UNRWA. The hospital executive operation is the responsibility of the local Executive Committee (EC) - Chaired by the Chief Executive Officer - and all staff are local Palestinians. The Board of CRB defines strategic goals of the hospital in close cooperation with the EC of the hospital.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO)
Position Description
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) assures the quality of the medical services of the hospital and plans for the sustainable future medical development of the hospital. The role of the CMO is to ensure high quality, patient-centred care by leading clinical and quality initiatives that support the provision of consistent clinical performance and practice standards across the hospital. The CMO provides senior-level leadership to the infection control, risk management, safety, functions, ensuring the collaboration and coordination of all stakeholders in these processes. The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for the medical wards (ICU, Neonate, Inpatient wards and Outpatient) Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Laboratory, Radiology, Social Services, and Psychology and is a member of the Executive Committee and the Hospital Advisory Commission.
