Child Health Education Officer

 

S/he will be provide sound technical support, training and capacity building in the areas of child health and nutrition to a team of community workers, preschool teachers and care givers. S(he) will have overall responsibility for ensuring highest possible quality child health and nutrition education interventions as envisaged by Right Start! Program.

Start Date: As soon as possible
Duration: Two years (Full time)

Responsibilities:
-Review training plans with Program Director and Program Manager and diarize bespoke health and nutrition training sessions accordingly
-Develop training material on child health and nutrition for preschool teachers and community workers
-Assist in developing training of trainers’ (ToT) module
-Support trainers in delivering ToT sessions
-Work with Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officer in revising M&E indicators
-Develop and facilitate outreach child health and nutrition activities as envisaged by the program in coordination with project staff and community workers.
-Develop high quality BCC materials on child health and nutrition as envisaged by the program.
-Develop dissemination strategies for BCC materials in order to reach the widest possible target groups.
-Agree review and evaluation methods and procedures to gauge benefits and impact of training and BCC materials
-Assist M&E officer in gathering, collating, analyzing and reporting on all monitoring and evaluation data.
-Act as a lead on all issues pertaining to child health and nutrition education activities envisaged by program.

Qualifications:
-Appropriate university level qualification in public / child health and nutrition
-Post-graduate qualification in child health and nutrition
-A minimum of 5 years’ grassroots child health and education work experience
-Significant training experience in child health and nutrition to a variety of clients including community workers, teachers and care givers
-Demonstrable experience in developing bespoke training materials for a variety of clients
-Experience in monitoring and evaluation of training and BCC activities
-Experience of work on USAID funded projects a distinct advantage
-Excellent time and self management skills
-Fluency in English and Arabic
-Excellent computer skills including all Microsoft Office applications
