Child Protection Officer

Child Protection Officer - Gaza Office
The Child Protection Officer will be responsible for supporting the technical design and day to day monitoring and implementation of the activities with high quality and standards. They will ensure that CARE’s interventions are adhered to IA global and regional CP standards/guidelines; and will ensure quality implementation, monitoring and reporting of the project.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Job Responsibility #1: Implementation of the project's activities
- Implement the child protection activities in accordance with project objectives and donor requirements and the supervision of the protection specialist.
- Conduct assessments to identify vulnerable children, child protection risks, and gaps in services.
- Implement strategies to prevent and respond to child protection violations, including abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence.
- Provide direct support and assistance to children at risk or survivors of abuse, exploitation, or violence.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of children's needs and develop individualized care plans in the targeted areas.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and appropriate services, including medical care, psychosocial support, legal assistance, and reintegration.
Job Responsibility #2: Raising awareness
- Raise awareness about child rights, child protection issues, and available services through community sensitization activities, workshops, and campaigns and in collaboration with community mobilizers and under the supervision of the protection specialist.
- Participate in coordination meetings, working groups, and networks related to child protection to share information and resources.
Job Responsibility #3: Ensure project quality
- Support the use and roll out of appropriate CP tools which recognize vulnerabilities of children in varied levels and contexts, recognize the resilience of children and community in mitigating risks.
- Conduct collection, documentation and reporting of CP activities data according to CPMS and IASC standard. Monitor and ensure on a day to day basis that CP activities are following the Quality Benchmark and in accordance with the Minimum Standards of Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, and Core Humanitarian Principles and Standards.
- Participate in the lessons learnt and best practices.
- Write high quality weekly and monthly reports. Provide timely inputs to program and donor reports on CP intervention activities.
Job Responsibility #4: Analyze the contexts and promote the Centrality of Protection
- Ensure through day-to-day monitoring that the CP prevention and response is effectively targeting the most affected children and communities including unaccompanied and separated children, Prevention and response to child recruitment, grave violations, including maiming and killing, Prevention and response to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and child trafficking,
- Contribute in developing and rolling-out advocacy strategy for CP. Always act as proactive advocate to ensure that other international and local service providers are adhered to Centrality of Protection Policy, thus prioritize protection at the center of all humanitarian actions when delivering CP services.

Job Profile Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, child development, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in child protection, social work, or related fields.
- Knowledge of child rights, child protection principles, and international standards.
- Experience in case management, counseling, and working with vulnerable populations.
- Familiarity with child protection systems, laws, and services in Palestine (mainly in GAZA)
- Experience working in humanitarian settings.
