Communication Director
The Welfare Association (WA) is looking for a specialized professional for the position of Communications Director. The applicant must have at least 10-15 years of experience in communication, ideally an “in-house” leadership role within a complex (geographically dispersed fundraising and field operations) entity, and covering areas such as website content, newsletters, and donor communications

General Description
He/She will:
-Set and guide the strategy for communications, communications media (digital (website & social media), traditional media, social media, publications, events), and public relations messages and collateral to consistently articulate WA’s mission and identity.
-Commit to fundraising targets (according to WA requirements) and create engagement opportunities to support the WA’s fundraising and stakeholder engagement goals across stakeholder groups.
-Be responsible for managing and directing WA’s internal and external communications.
-Supervise public relations staff, create communication strategies, oversee communications campaigns.
The role includes researching, planning, budgeting, documenting and overseeing WA communications efforts to support the WA’s vision. The Communication/PR director will work closely with a senior peer group within the organization as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives.
The candidate is expected to work in HQ office/ Palestine (any Welfare Office)
Job Description
-Develop, implement, and evaluate the Annual Communications/PR Plan in collaboration with WA team
-Work closely through Communications Advocates to enhance internal communications and develop a coherent campaigning strategy and oversee the implementation of annual campaigns
-Lead efforts to generate of/ online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action. Decide who, where, and when to disseminate
-Put communications vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities
-Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, and WA’s website
-Mentor and lead a team member responsible for WA’s website administration and coordination
Oversee webpage maintenance to ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly
-Track and measure the level of engagement within the network over time
-Create a platform (digital and other) to enable all stakeholders to champion communications and accurately represent the organization in their communities.
-Identify and manage outreach opportunities (Conferences, Seminars, Events, Partnerships) to engage existing and new stakeholder/various audience groups in-line with the annual strategy
-Lead Communications in Crisis Situations and respond to Emergency Situation Campaign Requirements in a manner that maintains the organizations’ messaging, brand and identity.
-Manage all media contacts
-Lead international relation activities to initiate and strengthen fundraising in the USA and Europe
Qualifications Required:
-Digital Native - Versed in social media channels, online fundraising, producing and managing digital campaigns
-Fundraising / Revenue Generation Track record
-MA Degree in Communication and Public Relations or relevant academic qualifications
-The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages, and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels is critical.
-Experience in the private, public, NGO sectors and be well-versed in the “Social Business” model.
-Experience in marketing and communication with International organizations with aim to raise funds
-Highly collaborative style of management; with experience in developing and implementing communications strategies.
-Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills with fluency in Arabic and English. Third language is an advantage.
-A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
-Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to “manage by influence”.
-High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels.
-Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters .
-Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.
-Sees Communications as a Profit-Center and is capable of achieving financial and operational results.
