Communications Coordinator
A local Foundation -NGO- seeks a Communications Coordinator who will support communications activities to advance the Foundations objectives, increase awareness of its interventions and raise its profile. The Coordinator will work in a collaborative team environment and will work closely with team members across the Foundation’s programs on a variety of communications activities, with a particular focus on media and online communications activities. This position is based in the Foundation’s office in Gaza, and reports to the Director of Communications and Resource Development.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
-Media coordination
-Communicate with the media to support public outreach and timely publicity,
-Maintain a monthly calendar of all events and another calendar of major annual events,
-Coordinate press coverage and web updates in accordance with the monthly calendars,
-Build and maintain contact list of selected local, Arab and international media outlets,
-Conduct field visits and attend the Foundations’ events,
-Drafting and translation of Communications materials
-Assist in the preparation of bilingual communications and public outreach materials including annual reports, bimonthly newsletters, and brochures,
-Provide accurate and timely translation of the bimonthly newsletter, web updates and any other communications materials,
-Coordinate outsourcing to external translators and/or editors when necessary,
-Maintenance of Website and social media
-Draft and translate regular updates for website and social media,
-Responsible for timely entry of bilingual updates to the website and social media,
-Routinely monitor website content and status for inconsistencies, downtime, and any other errors,
-Information distribution lists
-Maintain and assist in rebuilding the information distribution lists including email listserv and post mail list,
-Conduct phone surveys to assure successful and timely receipt of mail and email send outs,
-Communications archives
-Maintain a photo archive of high resolution photos for print and online communications materials,
-Maintain a soft archive of the foundations news in the print, web, and broadcast media outlets,
-Carry out any other communication-related duties as assigned by the Director of Communications and Resource Development.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor’s degree,
-Proven experience in media coordination for non-profits in Palestine,
-Ability to master new technologies quickly, including Facebook, YouTube,Twitter, vimeo, linkedin and other online vehicles.
-Excellent writing and verbal communications skills in Arabic and English.
-Excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
-Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-Advanced Microsoft Outlook, Word document, and Power Point skills. Photography and adobe flash skills will be an asset.
