Communications Officer
AMIDEAST is an international, non-profit, educational organization headquartered in Washington D.C., with a network of field offices throughout the Middle East and North Africa including the West Bank and Gaza.
AMIDEAST and the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) are jointly implementing the Leadership and Teacher Development (LTD) Program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). LTD is a comprehensive education reform initiative focused on improving the quality of school education through an evidence-based approach to leadership and teacher development. LTD is seeking to hire a Communications Officer for the remaining duration of program.
Overall Position Responsibilities:
The Communication Officer is responsible for raising the profile of the LTD program among the Palestinian community, beneficiaries and USAID. Specifically, the position is responsible for the following duties:
-Assists in writing program reports (quarterly, annual and other).
-Prepares and submits biweekly program update Develops and maintains periodic program newsletters in Arabic and English. -
-Cooperates with MoEHE PR Department in writing and disseminating all press releases.
-Capturing and sharing photo documentation of all key activities.
-Follows up all PR, press related tasks including producing branded folders, binders, booklets, posters.
-Ensures LTD production of all marketing materials compile with AMIDEAST and USAID branding, marketing regulations.
-Takes responsibility for superb coverage of LTD activities and uses initiative in writing powerful success stories in English and Arabic that celebrate program accomplishments.
-Invites and follow up with local media during major program events.
-Updates LTD website and social media with regular content, including pictures, press releases, stories, short descriptions of the program and its components.
-Coordinates with local contractors on multimedia productions, including videos of LTD activities and radio ads.
-Coordinates with relevant MoEHE departments and staff, particularly district-based public relations officers to ensure the program achieves maximum visibility.
-Produces PR reports and success stories derived from M&E technical reports.
-Assists the M&E department with data collection when needed.
-Attends and documents meetings, including taking meeting minutes and photos, to be used in program materials
-Conducts periodic visits to LTD schools to capture success stories about noteworthy achievements.
-Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Public Relations or a relevant field
-At least 4 years of relevant experience in communications and PR
-Experience in producing PR materials
-Experience with USAID projects or similar large-scale international organizations preferred
-Ability to spend considerable time in the field (West Bank Districts).
-Self-motivated and can exercise initiative with minimal supervision
-Demonstrated experience and leadership working successfully with a team
-Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic
-Competency using digital and video camera and sound equipment
-Experience using digital editing software (e.g., Adobe Premier Pro)
-Knowledgeable of digital filmmaking highly desired
-Experience using Microsoft Office productivity software, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
-Valid driver’s license (mandatory)
