Background
The Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) is a leading Palestinian Agricultural Development Organization that was established in 1986. Since its establishment, UAWC has been efficiently engaged in Palestinian land & water resources development, protection of environment, poverty reduction and women empowerment, olive oil marketing, as well as other crucial rural development programs. UAWC is seeking to recruit suitable candidates for the following position to start immediately at its head office in Ramallah:
Communications Officer
Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Lobbying and Advocacy Department, the Communications Officer is responsible for developing strategic communications, mobilizing youth and women groups, initiating local and regional campaigns and overseeing the production of a range of communications materials for UAWC. S/he is responsible for timely, accurate and high-quality informational materials, such as fact sheets, position papers and briefings.
The Communications Officer will collaborate closely with youth and women advocacy groups at local, regional and international levels to promote organization's outreach. S/he will also collaborate with different working groups (WG) to support outreach campaigns, contribute to resource mobilization; s/he mobilizes support in conjunction with intergovernmental processes, and support the activities and special events organized for UAWC.
Tasks:
Will oversee the production of a range of communications materials.
Develop and provide advice and support to UAWC advocacy and campaigns.
Build communication partnerships and media alliances.
Mobilize UAWC youth and women advocacy groups communications at the national regional and international levels

Qualifications, knowledge and experience:
BA degree in communications, public relations, international relations, or a related field.
Native-level or near-fluent English written and verbal communication skills; fluency in Arabic is required.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in communications at a national or international level, including experience in media relations.
Proven experience in mobilization and working with extended groups.
Excellent knowledge in agricultural policies and farmers rights.
Very good computer skills and proficiency using MS Office and other data management systems.
