THE PROJECT
The objective of the project is Protection of vulnerable people in Gaza strip is enhanced through psychosocial support and reduction of risk related to explosive remnants of war
Mitigating the impact of explosive remnants of war (ERW) contamination in Gaza on civilians, and preventing further casualties or injuries leading to disabilities, it is essential that Gaza people are well informed and aware of the risks they encounter in their daily living environment.
Despite having knowledge of ERW due to their extensive and long lasting exposure, people from Gaza, do demonstrate tendencies of non-safe behaviors that may lead to accidents. In particular, children in school who, depending on where they come from, what they do and do not due to their explorative curiosity, are very vulnerable to the risks related to interacting with areas that are contaminated with ERW.
Furthermore, this action intends to focus on building the capacity of teachers to support children with a focus on those with disabilities as due to their impairments they are not targeted making them even more vulnerable to the risks posed by ERW. Other populations the action will target include rubble removers, reconstruction workers, farmers, scrap collectors and fishermen who by virtue of where they work or the work they do are at risk of the dangers of ERW.
EXPECTED RESULTS
1. The capacity of at risk population to prevent threats posed by ERW is increased
