Community Mobilizer

Community Mobilizer - Gaza Office

The Community Mobilizer plays a pivotal role in facilitating the implementation of CARE's interventions at the project level to ensure communities are empowered for sustainable development and contribute to individual well-being outcomes according to CARE standards.

The Community Mobilizer is instrumental in engaging and empowering communities to tackle social issues, drive development initiatives, and improve collective well-being. Collaborating closely with community members, leaders, and organizations, the Community Mobilizer fosters communication, cooperation, and concerted action towards common objectives. They identify community needs, mobilize resources, and assist in implementing programs and projects aligned with local priorities and aspirations.

Tasks and responsibilities:

Job Responsibility #1: Implementation of the project's activities

• Identify community needs, priorities, and resources through participatory approaches such as community meetings, focus group discussions, and surveys.
• Facilitate community dialogue and decision-making processes to develop collective action plans and strategies.
• Provide training, workshops, and capacity-building sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of community members on relevant topics such as health, education, livelihoods, and advocacy.
• Empower community members to become active participants in project planning, implementation, and monitoring.
• Raise awareness about key issues affecting the community, including social, economic, environmental, and health-related concerns.
• Mobilize support and resources from local authorities, government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to address community needs.
• Coordinate with community-based groups, youth clubs, women's associations, and other grassroots organizations to promote collective action and solidarity.

Job Responsibility #2: Planning and Reporting on the activities

• Participate in planning and preparation of work plans, implementation of planned activities and monitoring/ reporting of progress.
• Facilitate and monitor the implementation of planned activities and community level engagements.
• Mobilize and facilitate the engagements of stakeholders during planning and development meetings, workshops, and seminars.
• Identify local level partners, support, and facilitate the partnership in the implementation of planned activities.
• Facilitate stakeholders and partners in supervision and monitoring of programmatic activities.
• Support the collection and documentation of impact and success stories monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and annually.
• Documentation of evidence-based impact stories.

Job Responsibility #3: Coordination and Collaboration

• Collaborate with the project team to ensure that the activities are conducted as planned.
• Support the entire protection team in gathering data and success stories.
• Participate in meetings, seminars, workshops, etc.

Job Profile Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in social sciences, community development, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working in community mobilization, grassroots organizing, or community development.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders and build relationships.
• Knowledge of participatory methodologies, community organizing techniques, and adult education principles.
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice, human rights, and community empowerment.
• Experience working in humanitarian settings.
