SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian NGO which, for more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly involved in the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the first cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in around twenty countries, SI's teams - 2000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers - work with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.
Solidarités International (SI) is determined to prevent and fight all type of abuse – all act of exploitation, abuse and/or sexual harassment (SEAH) against members of beneficiary communities or collaborators, fraud, corruption, violation of persons and/or property, funding of activities harmful to human rights – that could be perpetrated in the frame of its interventions. About the position
Job title: Community Mobilizer
Post location: Gaza Strip, office in Deir Al-Balah
Starting date: ASAP
Contract duration: 4 months renewable according funding
Job Summary:
The Community Mobilizer is in charge to create awareness of the Solidarités International programs, assessment and support the dissemination of basic hygiene messages thought targeted communities
He/she participates to the collection of data for assessment and to the identification of the beneficiaries within the communities
He/she participates in monitoring the implemented activities and assessing new needs
He/she participates in spreading basic hygiene messages and training and support item distribution process.
Job Description:
Evaluation / diagnostic:
- Help in setting up criteria for selecting beneficiaries
- Identification of target groups through the communities (women, vulnerable…)
- Collect accurate data’s at the community level
- Assist in conducting baseline survey
- Report any emerging needs to the Watsan officer
- Support technical team to settle committees or any other community association
Communication / representation
- Mobilize the targeted communities and create awareness about the program activities
- Listen to complains from the different groups of the communities
- Mitigate problem between communities when it arises
- Analyze actions to be done to avoid any security accident at community level
- Give support for all Solidarités International activities for community mobilization and communication with local authorities, site leaders
Implementation and operational monitoring
- Monitor the implemented activities at the community level by onsite regular visits
- Sensitization and training of the beneficiaries on hygiene practices
- Follow activities implemented by other organizations in Solidarités International’s area of intervention and report to the Watsan officer
- Assist in conducting assessment survey to control progress of program and efficiency of activities
- Support the preparation, organization and implementation of items distribution.
Reporting
- Share with the watsan officer every information about security, activities, logistics or administrative issues occurred at field level
- Participate in the preparation of the regular program reports
- Participate to the general program meetings (weekly, monthly…)
- Communicate orally about any important issue in internal staff meetings

Studies: Degree in sociology, anthropology or social sciences or public health (diploma or bachelor)
Experience: 2 years’ experience minimum in similar position is an asset, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector. Proven technical experience in public health, in working with the local communities and with the community mobilization.
Languages: Fluent in Arabic, English is an assets
IT: good level in Excel, word, power BI Kobo/ODK, etc
Skills:
- Knowledge of communication with communities’ methodology,
- Understanding of registration process, and selection criteria
- Strong understanding and skills in hygiene promotion methodologies
- Willingness to work in the field
- Problem solving and 2-way communication
- Very good communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders
- Teamwork spirit and ability to work effectively under pressure
