Data Analyst
Base: Ramallah, with frequent visits to Gaza, Tubas, and Hebron
Summary of Key Functions and Responsibilities:
The Data Analyst is responsible for the analysis of programs’ data to produce relevant products informing programing design and advocacy according to mission’s needs. He/she will work closely to the Program Unit staff to collect, analyze, and interpret data from a variety of sources to inform program decision-making and improve program effectiveness. At the same time, he/she provides support to the Operation Unit team members on the technical design, quality and monitoring of any data collection process. In addition, the position has the responsibility of capitalizing on the experience and best practices to inform the learning process of the organization.
The position is located in the Program Unit. The Data analyst reports to the Program Manager. It will require active communication and coordination with the Program Unit’s team members through participating and establishing any necessary meetings and communication channel to achieve its objectives.
Specific Objectives and Fields of Responsibility
- Locate, analyze, evaluate and define new data analysis processes and make recommendations for their deployment and improvement within the Operations and Program Units’ functions.
- Supervise all data collection/analysis processes conducted in the mission, and conduct analysis by providing strategical thinking, technical advice and conducting, when necessary, advanced analysis beyond descriptive. Ensure compliance with relevant data protection and security policies.
- Collect, clean, and analyze data from multiple sources, primary and secondary, including surveys, program databases, external sources, identifying trends and data correlations for reporting, proposals writing, and other purposes established jointly with Program and Operations’ Units. Design mechanisms to ensure quality and integrity of data to be analyzed considering any data cleaning/wrangling needed before the process of analysis to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
- Conduct regular data quality assessments to identify lessons learnt and areas for improvement in data collection and analysis and provide recommendations to internal and external stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Participate and lead in the different workshops and meetings related to the types of analysis that can be produced in the mission and specifically of the existing projects and methodologies.
- Plan, design and/or improve ad-hoc assessments for data collection and train relevant staff for implementing it consistently in the field.
- Conduct relevant data analysis of qualitative and quantitative data to inform programs and advocacy by products designed through discussions with mission’s focal points, partners, and other focal points.
- Identify appropriate (in-house and external) knowledge and data sources for the preparation of analytics and knowledge products. Triangulate all the information in the form of comprehensive reports which inform response for change.
- Communicate with the Platform Manager on the integration of the developed analysis in the Platform and other Databases built.
- Conduct relevant data analysis and comprehensive reports to provide quarterly situational reports, in line with advocacy and communication needs of the mission.
- Create and maintain dashboards and other data visualization tools through Microsoft Power-Bi or other software to synthetize, capitalize on, and showcase internal quantitative and qualitative data to multiple stakeholders in an effective way. Capitalize and develop capacity building activities for colleagues and key partners related to data collection, analysis, and visualization.
- Collaborate and coordinate with other relevant departments and cross-functional teams within the mission to ensure that data analysis is appropriately integrated into program planning and implementation.
- Provide technical support for the design, method, and conduct of surveys such as baseline and endline, and the commission of evaluations and surveys as required in coordination with project managers, technical focal points, and external partners when relevant.
- Support WW-GVC technical focal points and specialists in the design of and the implementation of data collection methodologies and processes across projects and programs.
- Supervising any data collection process designed for program and MEAL purposes.
- Work with Program Unit staff, and specifically the MEAL department, to identify and define data requirements and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Jointly with technical focal points and in close coordination with Programs Manager, planning and when needed providing the necessary training to meet strategic objectives.
- Capitalize on lessons learnt on implementation of piloting programs.
- Act as a focal point representing the organization in all panels related to data analysis and MEAL. And capitalize required methodologies, according to different needs presented.
- Coordinate and lead capacity building activities for internal and external stakeholders regarding data analysis, as required by operational and strategic planning of activities.

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, information management, or a related field.
A minimum of five years of experience in applied analytics, information management, statistics, project management, or related area is required.
Experience in using data and information to inform decisions and strategies is required.
Experience with self-service analytics and data visualization applications (MS PowerBI, Tableau or similar).
Experience in tools managing version control such as Git is desirable.
Experience with database or programming languages (SQL, Python, R) is desirable.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, manage, and disseminate significant amounts of information giving attention to details and accuracy.
Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational objectives.
Able to Develop clear objectives, identifies priority activities and assignments that are consistent with organizational strategies.
