Development Worker (m/f) as Advisor for participatory research

Field of activity

The Civil Society Programme of GIZ aims to support civil society organizations in Palestine in the fulfillment of their mandate by strengthening their capacities in the areas of management, advocacy and intra-civil society coordination as well as to support the improvement of the inclusion of people with disabilities in international cooperation programmes and the Palestinian society.

PalVision is a non profit youth organization which aims at activating and strengthening Palestinian youth, especially East Jerusalemites through advocacy, awareness raising, mentoring guidance and capacity building programmes, in order to reinforce their belonging and national identity.

The Development Advisor will contribute to increase Palvision's capacities in designing, conducting and utilizing participatory research and hence improve the effectiveness of the implementation of their advocacy strategy as well as strengthen program planning and project management.

Your tasks

-    Conduct participatory research studies and analysis for the preparation of factsheets, policy papers and positions papers
-    Develop and support participatory research approaches in the context of youth in East Jerusalem
-    Develop and deliver advocacy messages based on research and analysis to advocate the rights of PalVision’s target groups
-    Provide support in data collection methods and instruments as well as guidance in systematizing data for the utilization in program development
-    Establish and maintain relationships with outside organizations conducting youth and Jerusalem- related research and evaluation

Your profile

You offer the following qualifications

-    University Master degree or equivalent professional work experience in Social Sciences, Political Sciences, International Relations, Social work and several years of relevant work experience
-    Strong research skills including participatory research methods, field data collection and data analysis
-    Knowledge in youth related issues, particularly in civic engagement and political participation, employment, inclusion of people with disability
-    Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English and an ability to process large amounts of information for a variety of internal and external audiences
-    Drivers license

-    Knowledge and experience in social work with youth
-    Knowledge in lobby and advocacy including policy analysis
-    Experience and competence in providing advisory services
-    Experience working with civil society organizations and/or international development cooperation
-    Ability to think strategically, analyze complex information and offer creative, practical solutions

Assignment period
24 months

-    place of residence: Ramallah or East Jerusalem
-    climate: Hot and dry summer, cool and wet winter

-    accessibility: International flights from Tel Aviv
