Director of Policy Analysis Unit

The Palestinian Center for Democracy. Researches and Studies (PALDSR) is an independent research centre that aims to further the development and consolidation of democracy in Palestine.

For its new Policy Analysis Unit, PALDSR is recruiting a:

The purpose of this Policy Analysis Unit will be to document, debate and develop Palestinian nationa policies. PALDS expects to contribute in this way to policy outcomes that reflect Palestinian nationa values, promote good governance and have the greatest beneficial effect on the well being of the Palestinian people.

Job Description:

The Director of the Policy Analysis Unit will establish and manage the Policy Analysis Unit. He will also develop and implement a business plan and an operational strategy for the Unit The Director will alsc undertake high quality policy research, analysis as well as policy development.

Skills, competencies and experience:

-Minimum qualification of a Masters Degree in social science or humanities, but ideally a PhD. and a good record of published research.
-Seven  years'  relevant,   post-qualification,   professional  experience  in   research,  management or senior academic capacity with demonstrable experience of managing people and resources;
-Thorough understanding of the Palestinian and regional politics, as well as good governance, with a weII-demonstrated capacity to think independently and to conceptualise and analyse issues;
-The ability to develop strategy and to plan and manage the work of others, within set deadline and budgets;
-Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership capacity;
-Good  IT skills including  standard  PC software (Word. Excel, PowerPoint,  Access); knowledge o1 SPSS is an asset;
-Demonstrable empathy with the mission, values and ethos of PALDSR;
-Excellent English and Arabic language skills, both orally and in writing.
