Distribution Assistant
CARE Palestine with support of local partners, is providing humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations affected by the conflict in Gaza. CARE Palestine’s programmes target conflict affected populations living in collective shelters in Gaza strip. The core sectors of CARE’s work include Emergency Food Security, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services, shelter, protection, Sexual Reproductive and Maternal Health (SRMH) services that combines rehabilitation and equipping of Primary Health Care Facilities, family planning support, capacity building of health staff and health outreach activities. CARE programmes mainstream protection and gender in all diversities, with a focus on specific needs of women and girls, recognizing that they are disproportionately affected by disasters.
Start Date: Immediate
Position Location: This position will be based in CARE’s office in Gaza (Der Al-Balah) with 50% travel.
Length of Contract: 9 months with possibility of extension depending on availability of funds, performance of the individual. The position will be full-time.
Under the supervision of the Distribution Officer, the Distribution Assistant (DA) is responsible for all preparatory work to conduct distributions, ensuring proper coordination on the ground with community committees, CBOs, and other relevant stakeholders. During the actual distributions, the DA will provide logistical and operational support to ensure smooth implementation at the distribution points. This role requires close engagement with beneficiaries and partners while maintaining compliance with CARE’s guidelines and humanitarian principles.
Responsibilities:
Job Responsibility 1: Distribution Preparation and Coordination. (40%)
- Support in the planning and preparation for distribution activities, including organizing materials and verifying distribution lists.
- Assist in conducting site assessments and preparing necessary logistics for a smooth operation.
- Coordinate with local community committees and CBOs to facilitate effective distribution.
Job Responsibility 2: On-Site Distribution Support. (25%)
- Assist in setting up distribution sites and ensuring orderly and fair distribution processes.
- Support crowd management and ensure adherence to CARE’s protection and humanitarian standards.
- Provide guidance and assistance to beneficiaries during distributions.
Job Responsibility 3: Monitoring and Documentation. (20%)
- Ensure proper documentation of distributions, including collecting signatures, receipts, and beneficiary verification.
- Support post-distribution monitoring (PDM) in coordination with the MEAL team.
- Report any issues, challenges, or lessons learned to the Distribution Officer.
Job Responsibility 4: Compliance and Security. (10%)
- Follow CARE’s and WFP distribution guidelines and ensure compliance with donor and partner requirements.
- Monitor security conditions and report any risks or incidents to the Distribution Officer and Security Team.
- Ensure accountability and prevent fraud in aid distribution.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AS ASSIGNED. (5%)

Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Additional training in logistics, supply chain management, or humanitarian response is an advantage.
Desired: Additional certifications in humanitarian logistics or emergency response.
Experience/Technical Skills:
Required:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in humanitarian aid, logistics, or distribution activities.
- Experience working with local communities, NGOs, or humanitarian organizations.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office).
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in challenging environments.
- Local knowledge of context is a must.
Desired:
- Previous experience in WFP-funded or large-scale distribution programs.
- Familiarity with the operational context of Gaza.
