Context
Relief International (RI) is an international non-profit organization that partners with communities impacted by conflict, climate change and disaster to save lives, build greater resilience and promote long-term health and wellbeing.
Our team of more than 7,000 staff and local volunteers work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education and Livelihoods programming that creates the foundation for community resilience.
We do this by working with local actors to develop safe and inclusive local programming that is evidence based, conflict sensitive, climate smart, and reaches those in need.

About oPt Program
Relief International was operational in OPT starting in 2007, and after entering hibernation period in 2017, has recently reactivated its operations at the end of 2023. Relief International is currently building its response to the current and evolving situation in both Gaza and the West Bank through both a direct implementation and partnership approach. Relief International’s programming in OPT follows Relief International’s global strategy with Health as a central focus with components linked to our work in Health through the sectors of WASH, Protection, Education and Livelihoods.
Job Profile
Under the direct supervision of the Supply Chain and Operation Coordinator, the driver primary responsibilities include transporting RI staff from office to meetings, RI guesthouse to office, and transporting RI staff as per their travel requests to activity sites locations or other cities where is RI having projects with the partners, carrying out vehicle maintenance checks and interacting with passengers and authorities in a professional conduct.
Key Responsibilities
Security
- Ensure that only authorised people enter vehicles, i.e. RI staff, partner organization members, etc.
- Ensure that all personnel wear a seatbelt and that total number of passengers is within legal limits.
- Must always drive carefully respecting all traffic rules, speed limits, other vehicles and pedestrians.
- Must not use mobile a phones while driving.
- Ensure that nobody is smoking while in the vehicle.
- Ensure that all non- staff in the vehicle has signed before a disclaimer of responsibility.
- Ensure that no weapons enter the vehicles.
- Ensure that safety material is always in the car (First aid kits, emergency food and water…)
- Translate from English to Arabic any potential communication/negotiation on the road between expats and authorities.
- Ensure Movement Follow-up is done properly.
Cargos
- Ensure that all material transported is authorised before transport and it is within loading capacity.
Documents
- Ensure that all vehicle’s and driver’s documents are in vehicle, i.e. driving licence, registration papers, insurance, and inform line manager if something is missing or expiring soon.
- Ensure that there are always enough Disclaimers of Responsibility for all non- staff to sign.
Maintenance
- Ensure that vehicle is always clean (inside and outside) while engine should also be cleaned on a regular basis.
- Fill gas whenever level is below half and before weekends or holidays.
- Daily check the technical conditions of the assigned vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, spare parts, etc.), perform weekly check according to the logbook and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect conditions
Reporting
- Report immediately to line manager of any mechanical or other problems related to vehicle.
- Use vehicle Logbook in order to monitor movements, services, accidents, refuelling, mileage, etc.
Others
- Adjust his/her working hours according to the operation’s needs.
- Follow any other request by Line Manager.

Person Specification
Skills, knowledge and expertise required for the role.
Essential criteria
- Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory.
- Minimum 1-year experience in a similar position
- Driver license
- Flexible in schedule, attitude and work prioritization
Desirable criteria
- Diligent in work processes
- Previous experience with NGO will be an asset
- Able to prioritize
- Work independently & within a team
- Security / negotiation experience is an asset.
