Jerusalem Office – UNOPS Project Management and Infrastructure Centre of Excellence
Since the opening of the Jerusalem Office in 2006, UNOPS has significantly strengthened its operations in Palestine. Our expert knowledge, skills and management systems contribute to the sustainable development of public infrastructure in Gaza and the West Bank, including Area C and East Jerusalem.
Under the guidance and supervision of the SecurityAdvisor & the Coordinator in Gaza , the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services for the transport of authorized personnel. He/she will also attend to the irregular shifts as requested by the supervisor. He/She has a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
Driving responsibilities

Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services by a) driving office vehicles for the transport of high-ranking officials and visitors and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items, and b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport including visa and customs formalities arrangement when required;

The office driver provides occasional driving services support to the UNOPS operations and program.

Keeps abreast of traffic and road and security and safety awareness to enable safe and on time arrival for meetings;

Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports;

Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely check / changes of oil, check of tires, brakes and water levels, car washing, etc so that the vehicle is kept clean and in good running condition at all times;

Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle and accurate and check for vehicle maintenance and assistance in preparing vehicle reports; (provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports)

Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts in the vehicle;

Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accident

Ensuring vehicles are serviceable, functioning and available for tasking,

Ensuring all required administration including vehicle logs, maintenance schedules etc are completed and current; and

Ensuring vehicle movement is completed in a safe and timely manner.

Education
-
Completion of secondary school or equivalent is required.
-
Diploma or certification in administration-related subjects or business administration would be an asset
Work Experience
-
Minimum of (2) years of driving experience is required at the national level
-
Proven track record of safe and responsible driving.
-
Knowledge of local road’s geography is required.
-
Knowledge of the local traffic driving rules and regulations is required
-
Work experience as a driver within the UN system or similar international organization is an asset.

Experience in driving Armored vehicles and C1 driving license Category is highly desirable)

Ability to identify and report vehicle issues promptly with demonstrated experience in basic vehicle maintenance.

Experience in computer/office productivity software will be an asset.
Language:

Effective communication skills, including proficiency in Arabic & good English language is required.

Contract duration: 3 months renewable subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds and satisfactory performance
