I-Background on ACTED
ACTED is an international NGO registered in France. ACTED’s vocation is to support vulnerable populations affected by wars, natural disasters and/or economic and social crises, and to accompany them in building a better future. ACTED started its activities in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) in May 2007. ACTED is currently implementing projects covering multiple humanitarian / development sectors, funded by of a variety of international donors, which aim at protecting vulnerable households and strengthening civil society actors across the oPt. ACTED oPt offers a dynamic, rigorous and knowledge-orientated working environment.
II-Country Profile
In the occupied Palestinian territory, ACTED is both committed to humanitarian assistance and long-term development. ACTED strives to strengthen the economic capacities of communities, consolidate civil society organisations, and provide emergency assistance to the most vulnerable, rural communities in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza. ACTED currently seeks a daily driver for its operations in Gaza.

III-Position Profile
- Logbook
- Ensure logbook is filled on daily basis as follows:
- Departure hour
- Arrival to destination hour
- Km at arrival to destination time
- Destination
- Full name of driver and passengers
- Signature of driver and passenger
- Ensure staff sign on logbook
- Check that the logbook and the mileage are matching
- Maintenance:
- Check state of each tire on daily basis before moving to field
- Check on daily basis of water level
- Check on weekly basis of oil level content of first aid kit, state of extinguisher
- Report to fleet officer any malfunction
- Safety and security
- The safety of passengers is your main responsibility. Ask all of them to fasten their seat belt (including back seated passengers), before starting the vehicle
- Respect and obey Traffic Rules and Regulations.
- Respect the speed limits, and reduce the vehicle speed when you reach places like markets, school, etc.
- Keep a reasonable distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you.
- Respect traffic lights and give priority in circles or after stop signs.
- Respect the travel timing. It’s the driver’s responsibility to alert the passenger about the time needed for each journey. If the passenger is late, it’s NOT the driver's responsibility to arrive on time.
- You may need to remind the passenger that it’s not your fault in case being late.
- Don’t ever leave the vehicle open and the keys inside, even for a short period of time.
- Don’t allow strangers or unauthorized persons to use the vehicle.
- Report any incident or accident immediately to the fleet officer.
- After dropping a passenger, the driver is responsible to check that nothing was forgotten inside the vehicle.
- Clean the vehicle by the end of the day.
- General Principles
- Wear proper clothes to appear in a good manner
- Never forgot that you are ACTED representative, and as such be always polite, professional and resourceful.
- Ensuring that all vehicle documents and the driver's driving license are valid and in the vehicle.

IV-Qualifications:
1-2 years driving experience with good references.
Arabic mother tongue and good level of spoken English.
Available to undertake frequent travel to field locations
Experience with International NGOs is preferred.
Knowledge of mechanics is an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines under pressure, and to complete work with high quality and attention to detail.
Flexibility and capacity to work under pressure.
Commitment towards principles and ethics of humanitarian aid, including compliance with ACTED standards and principles.
Experience in adhering to security protocols and procedures.
Valid driving license with a good driving record.
