The Opportunity – Driver
Post location: Gaza Field Office
Contract Duration and Level of Effort: 6 months with the possibility of extension based on availability of funding.
ROLE PURPOSE:
This position is responsible to drive SCI vehicles to provide transportation to program and support staff when and where required.
The role holder will be expected to work outside the normal job description and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Supply Chain Officer
Staff directly reporting to this post: None
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Be responsible to maintenance and functions of SC vehicles.
- Be responsible to ensure proper cleaning of vehicle (Intr/Extr).
- Be responsible to record keeping (Log Book), maintenance, fuelling and control of vehicle.
- Ensure punctuality and safe transport.
- Observing the road and traffic laws and regulations.
- Ensure vehicle is kept clean, tidy and in good working condition at all times.
- Ensure vehicle is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks: check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc and that check list if filled daily first thing in the morning.
- Prepare and submit vehicle monitoring report, including records of vehicle operations, maintenance, expenses, mileage, at end of each month
- Ensure timely availability of vehicle when duty assigned.
- Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, registration, logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts are in the assigned vehicle.
- To inform supervisor for repair work required in the vehicle.
- To be available in case of any emergency situation within short notice.
- Work after duty hours or on holidays as and when required.
- Help in loading and unloading of official materials on their respective vehicles.

- Other projects as defined by the HRM.
- Be prepared to vary day to day activities and work pattern/hours in humanitarian response situations.
- Position holder may be required to outside of normal duties and working hours during emergency responses.

In order to be successful, you will bring/have:
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential:
- At least Middle school pass
- At least 5 years’ experience working with INGOs and NGOs.
- Valid Driving license
- Proven performance with driving
- Basic knowledge of mechanics and repair
- Experience in basic vehicle repair and maintenance
- Basic knowledge of HF and VHF radio equipment use
- Ability to maintain logbook properly
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Highly dedicated and motivated for the organization
- Understanding of English language
- Spoken Arabic language is must.
Desirable
- Speaking English would be an advantage.
