Founded in 1993, Médecins du Monde Switzerland is a medical association of international solidarity that is part of the Médecins du Monde network. We provide sustainable access to health care for people in vulnerable situations in Switzerland and around the world.

MdM Switzerland, has been working in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) since 1994 in the sector of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), implementing emergency and development interventions, focusing on victim of occupation-related violence, children and detention, suicide prevention and management, strengthen of access to mental health cares at national and community level, and advocacy initiative.

YOUR MISSION

• To support the implementation of the projects by conducting the needed driving MdM Switzerland’s vehicles.

Specific objectives:

• Support the implementation of the activities included in the different active projects in the country.
• Ensure the proper use of MDM resources in Palestine.
• Ensure the respect of MDM procedures in Palestine.
• Support the logistic department with other tasks if required.

Under the direct supervision of the Log officer the driver will contribute to the development of MdM-CH strategy in the country and will support the implementation, the quality and the consistence of the activities developed by MdM CH’s team and partners.

YOUR ACTIVITIES

1. Travel / movements

• Drive MDM vehicles upon request, in line with MDM guidelines for driving/security and weekly movement.
• Ensures transport of people or goods (mail, purchased goods, equipment…) in safely and efficiently manner, on time and to the assigned places in order to promote the image of MdM CH and to reflect its values (respect of passengers and road users, respect rules and regulations.
• Monitor the monthly fuel consumption of MDM vehicles and make sure that the log books are updated accordingly.
• Keep vehicles in good and well-maintained condition to minimize risks of breakdowns and to keep the vehicle in good and cleaned condition for passengers.
• Keep vehicle documents in compliance with the law and the internal procedures according to the existing regulations of local authority.
• Deliver and pick up mail/correspondence and parcels to ensure speedy and effective transmission of information or goods.
• Assist and help co-workers in executing their tasks for the best interest of MdM activities.

2. Security 

• Participation in the security meetings and respect of the security rules set up according to the context.

YOUR PROFIL

Academic and Working Experience:

• Academic degree is preferable.

• 3+ years of experience covering similar positions.

• Experience with MdM is a plus.
• Hard-working, willing to learn new things, and having can-do-attitude.
• Detail-oriented, and well-organized.
• Honest, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.
• Pro-active and creative.
• Driver license not less than 5 yeas

Other Requirements/Skills            

• Ability to work under pressure in an unstable and changing environment.
• Leadership, communication, diplomatic and analytical skills.
• Good skills in organization, coordination and transfer of knowledge.

• To behave with self-restraint at all times and respect the dignity of the beneficiaries.
• English proficiency is preferable.
• Ability to live and work in a difficult security context and willingness to accept security protocols.
• Confidentiality: observe absolute discretion on the documents, interviews, discussions and/or other info related to the intervention of MdM Switzerland in the country.

CONDITIONS

The position is based in Gaza,

Contract type: fixed term contract

Contract Duration: 8 months renewable, with 3 months’ probation period

Working Hours: Standard office working hours from Sunday to Thursday.
