Since 2009, NRC has been providing humanitarian assistance and promoting respect for international law in one of the longest-running displacement crises in modern history. We protect and assist Palestinians affected by, or threatened with, displacement in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. We provide legal counselling to promote human rights and improve shelter, water and sanitation facilities. We support the provision of quality education, and help communities prepare for, and respond to, emergencies. We also advocate for the rights of displaced Palestinians locally and internationally.

Role Specific Information

The purpose of the Driver position is to provide daily professional and reliable transport to NRC resources.

Generic responsibilities:

• Transport NRC staff, visitors, documents and goods/materials to designated destinations when officially approved
• Ensure the safety and security of the passengers, the goods and the vehicle
• Immediately report accidents, breakdowns and needs of repair and general maintenance/service
• Respect the local traffic regulations and the NRC logistical/vehicle policies at all times
• Maintain the logbook for all trips
• Maintain the vehicle in proper operating condition at all times, including keeping the vehicle clean, ensuring enough fuel, checking the technical state, checking spare tyres and recovery kits
• In liaison with the line manager, arrange for repairs and servicing
• Ensure the assigned vehicle has all the necessary documents and equipment
• Provide logistical support during trainings and workshops   

Specific responsibilities:

• Perform safe and secure transportation of NRC personnel and deliveries throughout Gaza
• Adhere to daily movement schedules and, where necessary, assisting with organising schedules to ensure maximum efficiency
• Observe the route, road, location, destination and security situation in each journey and report back to the Security Focal Point in case of any incident
• Adhere to all NRC Palestine security and safety policies and guidelines
• Perform carrying out loading/unloading duties, as required
• Report immediately any accident following NRC procedures
• Undertake any other reasonable task assigned by management

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a Candidate had experience in working as a driver in a humanitarian/recovery context, Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts, Sound Arabic and English language skills, written / verbal and Hebrew knowledge preferred.

In this position, you will join highly motivated and expert staff who are making a difference to the most vulnerable people in the world's biggest displacement crisis.

Additional Information:

Contract period: up to 3 months 

Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions

Duty station: Jerusalem
