Action Against Hunger (AAH) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-political, non-denominational and non-profit making organization working in the Palestinian Territory since 2002. 

Action Against Hunger is recruiting for Gaza Strip 5 (Drivers) 

Drivers  

For 7 months with possibility of extension 

General Objectives:  

In the framework of Action Against Hunger programme to assist vulnerable households in the Gaza Strip, the Driver will support the Log Tech Officer in terms of fleet, staff and goods transportation and contribute to local procurement. S/He will support the final aim to guarantee an efficient and effective operational support to the projects of the Base. 

The candidate will be responsible on the following objectives:  

Objective 1: Fleet Management and Transport 

• Transport: Transport AAH’s personnel and goods within Gaza Strip and to the project sites, according to the movement planning of the base.  
• Movement: Follow up and keep records of movements, fuel consumption and maintenance of all vehicles in the logbook. 
• Movement: Organize the daily and weekly movement planning – following up with teams to ensure movements for the following day & updating movement plan in conjunction with Log Manager accordingly. 
• Vehicle Condition: Check the vehicles (condition and mechanic) on a daily basis and fill the daily/weekly/monthly follow up sheets.  
• Vehicle Condition: Make sure that all necessary items (such as tools, first aid kit, car documents, maps, fire extinguisher and communication means) are always in each of the vehicles at the beginning of each day and before any journey. 
• Vehicle Condition: Inform the Log Officer about the need for maintenance, repairs, use, wash, fuel, insurance, car registration. Make sure that timely maintenance is done at regular intervals. Ensure that all repairs and car services are logged in the vehicle maintenance file  
• Security: Drive and make sure that all the safety / security rules are implemented  
• Incident: Communicate with Log Manager regarding accidents or incidents to ensure necessary information and reporting is provided.  
• Act as a focal point for all vehicle movements that the driver is involved in.  
• Activity support: Give logistics and security support to ACF staff during field distribution activities.  
• Reporting: Submit fuel report and Logbook to Log Manager each month. 

Objective 2: Support the Log Officer/Assistant in procurement process (purchasing) 

• Quotes: Deliver and collect quotes  
• Purchase and payment: Support on the purchases and organize the payments of invoices to the suppliers. 
• Reception/Delivery: Support in inspecting items delivered and dealing with contractors regarding back orders and missing or damaged goods. 

Objective 3: Security and Access 

• General: Drive and make sure that all the safety / security rules are implemented.  
• Incident: Communicate with Log Manager regarding accidents or incidents to ensure necessary information and reporting is provided. Act as a focal point for all vehicle movements that the driver is involved in.  
• Compliance: Respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan. Support Log Manager in the preparation and dissemination of staff information / trainings / awareness in relation to security rules. 
• Communication: Communicate to the Access and Security Managers – HoB, Deputy Head of Base & Log Manager any important security information concerning the areas where AAH project activities are taking place – to ensure effective operational security planning for all AAH staff members. 
• Communication: Take initiative in offering advice whenever security issues arise.  
• Compliance: Ensure all passengers are following ACF Local Standard Operational Procedures (LSOP)  
• Communication: Report to Log Manager any seen or reported AAH staff non-compliance with security SOPs, especially during movements. 

Candidate Background:

• Secondary education or higher. 
• Valid Driving license for not less than 5 years; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair; and good knowledge of Gaza Strip roads Knowledge of security protocols in relation to staff movements and base operations First Aid Knowledge desirable.   
• Minimum of two years’ work experience as a driver (experience in an international organization is obligatory); Safe driving record.   
• Experience in logistics and procurement. 
• Good reading, writing and speaking skills in both Arabic and English  
• Word, Excel and Internet. 
• Mobility: among Gaza Strip.

: Compensation Package: 

ILS 42,130 gross/ year divided in 12 payments and based on experience. In addition, Action Against Hunger covers food and transportation allowances for a fully worked month.
