Education Officer

Education Officer - Gaza Office
The Education officer will provide support in training, mentoring, and monitoring as follows: -Support on-site assessments and selection of shelters and trainees therein. -Become proficient in Healing Classrooms (HC) and help tailor the Teaching Learning Circles (TLC) course to the context.
The education oficer will be responsible for ensuring that CARE staff identify, engage, and influence key education stakeholders in Gaza responsible for and engaged in promoting learning outcomes for the Displaced children ages 3 to 12. This includes collaboration with government, UN and other humanitarian coordination decision makers, education implementing partners, and large-scale development initiatives to improve learning through play.
The education officer will be responsible for:
- Implementing the education activities in alignment with CARE’s goals and donor requirements.
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and community leaders to identify education needs, priorities, and strategies for intervention.
- Providing academic based- PSS to Children /students affected by the crises in the targeted areas.
- Conducting assessments to identify children’s educational needs, strengths, and areas for improvement.
- Offering individualized guidance and counseling to children to address academic, behavioral, and emotional issues which may impact their learning and well-being because of the crises.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Job Responsibility #1: Ensure the implementation of the education -based activities
- Implement the education activities in alignment with CARE’s goals and donor requirements.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and community leaders to identify education needs, priorities, and strategies for intervention.
- Provide academic based- PSS to Children /students affected by the crises in the targeted areas.
- Conduct assessments to identify children’s educational needs, strengths, and areas for improvement.
- Offer individualized guidance and counseling to children to address academic, behavioral, and emotional issues which may impact their learning and well-being as a result of the crises
Job Responsibility #2: Ensure the partnership with other main players in Education
- Foster partnerships with community members, local organizations, and government agencies to promote education initiatives and address barriers to learning within the crises.
- Advocate for the rights of children and youth to access education.
- Track progress towards the project goals and objectives, identify challenges and lessons learned, and make recommendations for areas for improvement.
- Train teachers, education administrators, and community volunteers on best practices in education under emergencies and child development.
- Support the establishment of education-based committees and student gathering safe space to promote student education, leadership, participation, and empowerment.
Job Responsibility #3: Coordination and Collaboration
- Assist in mapping of existing teaching and learning materials being used in the refugee and host community shelters and identify playful activities at community level against a framework to identify areas of integration, adaptation, and development of content;
- Engage with field level coordination leads, implementing partners, teachers, parents, community leaders and children through structured co-creation processes
- Support the development/adaptation of training content and testing for teachers, parents and community in refugee and refugee host communities through participatory and consultative process involving local teacher education colleges, universities, other education partners and key government counterparts,

Job Profile Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in educational development activities in the humanitarian context.
- Knowledge of education policies, curriculum frameworks, and pedagogical approaches.
- Experience working with children and youth.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
- Commitment to promoting gender equality, inclusion, and child rights in education programming.
- Experience working in humanitarian settings.
