The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs.

Job Purpose Summary

The purpose of the officer position is day to day implementation of the CC Project. Use actions words such as ensure, implement or assist for the position relevant responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Generic responsibilities

 
Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines

-      Implement delegated CC project  portfolio according to plan of action
-      Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
-      Ensure proper filing of documents

Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist

-      Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
-      Any other task required by management

Specific responsibilities

-      Participate in team planning, regular meetings and M&E activities (including FGDs, pre-assessments in targeted schools, mid-year and final review, any other evaluations taking place during the course of the year etc.)
-      Minimum 80% (possibly four working days in the schools during their opening hours) of the time participating in project related field activities
-      Based on needs assessment results, work closely with school management and education team members on designing, planning and implementing communication and parental activities.
-      Prepare, deliver and follow up support activities and trainings to different beneficiaries (school teaching and non-teaching staff, MoEHE/UNRWA staff, parents, etc.) and any related awareness raising sessions based on the general approved plan.
-      Implement activities to support and mentor teachers and non-teaching staff in collaboration with the education team by delivering training to school staff , following the implementation of the training package skills in the classroom, participating in teachers planning (when needed) and share  follow up feedback with school management.
-      Ensure keeping accurate records of assessment, activities, and participation in school (number of beneficiaries, pictures, beneficiary feedback, activity budget tacking)
-      Ensure  reporting (weekly/monthly on area of responsibility) to team leader respecting given deadlines
-      Prepare purchase requisitions according to approved activity plan and budget to be handed over to Team Leader
-      IF APPLICABLE: Observe teachers’ performance to ensure quality education is implemented in schools, provide them with structured feedback and develop a training plan based on the gaps identified.

Qualifications and Competences

Academic and Professional Qualifications         

-        Bachelor’s degree in Education or/and experience in working on psycho-education.
-        Advanced degree in education or social science desirable.
-        At least 3 years of experience in the field of psycho-education and or youth
-        Relevant work experience especially with beneficiaries.
-        Experience of and commitment to participatory approaches to aid and development.

Relevant Experience

-        Experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
-        Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
-        Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
-        Some knowledge of English
-        Computer literacy.
 
Knowledge, Skills & Personal Attributes

-    Ability to work under pressure.
-    Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
-    Very good command of English, Arabic both written and orally.
-    Very good command of computer skills (Word, Excel).

-        Arabic
-       English
