Position Title: Education Specialist & Curriculum Design Researcher
Location: Palestine
Reports to: Project Director / Senior Technical Advisor
Project Duration: 7 months, with the possibility of renewal

General: Lapis Group has recently won an award from Education Above All to design and launch Youm Jadeed, an education focused project for Palestine. Lapis Group is a recognized leader in media, communication, and education, with decades of experience in producing high-quality educational content and strategic communications. About the Project: Youm Jadeed (New Day) is an educational and psychosocial support initiative designed for Palestinian children aged 7-11. This project, funded by Education Above All, leverages radio, social media and other digital platforms to mitigate harm associated with the educational gap caused by ongoing conflict and provide psychosocial support and resources for children and caretakers. Over the coming 7 months the program aims to develop and broadcast 90 packages of educational content that include a radio program and supplementary audio-visual material for broadcast over FM and online streaming. This will be complemented by a robust multi-platform dissemination and community engagement strategy.
Position Overview: The Education Specialist - Curriculum Research & Design will play a pivotal role in the Youm Jadeed educational and psychosocial support project. The specialists will be responsible for researching, mapping, and analyzing existing educational and psychosocial content from a broad range of stakeholders, as well as applicable official curricula. Their work will ensure that the project’s academic resource material, edutainment and related scripts are aligned with and connect to educational content that is of high quality, culturally relevant, and aligned with the educational needs of children aged 7-11 in Palestine in general and Gaza in particular.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Research and Mapping:
- Conduct comprehensive research on existing educational and psychosocial content, focusing on materials relevant to the Palestinian context.
- Map and analyze current curricula and educational resources, identifying gaps and opportunities for content development from diverse sources and stakeholders that include local and international NGOs, UN Agencies, and others.
- Contribute to the alignment of the project’s content with local educational standards and cultural contexts.
Curriculum Design and Development:
- Collaborate with the project team to design engaging and relevant curriculum content for the radio program and supplementary materials.
- Contribute to the development of educational resources, including worksheets, activity guides, and thematic resources that complement the radio content.
- Ensure that all materials are designed to support non-formal education, psychosocial support, and essential 21st-century skills.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
- Work closely with local educators, NGOs, and international partners to gather input and feedback on content development.
- Ensure the integration of systematic partner input and ongoing feedback into the content development process.
- Participate in meetings and workshops to align project activities with broader educational and psychosocial support initiatives.
Content Review and Quality Assurance:
- Contribute to the review and validation of the educational and psychosocial project’s materials.
- Conduct thematic reviews to ensure the content is relevant, culturally appropriate, and free from potential triggers.
- Collaborate with the M&E Officer to integrate feedback and improve content quality.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of research findings, content mapping, and curriculum development activities.
- Prepare regular reports on progress, challenges, and outcomes related to content development.
- Contribute to the preparation of progress reports for the donor and other stakeholders.

- Bachelor’s degree in education, curriculum development, educational research, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Proven experience in curriculum design, educational research, or content development.
- Strong understanding of the educational and psychosocial needs of children in conflict-affected regions.
- Experience working with educational materials for children in Palestine is a plus.
- Excellent research, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
