New Part-time Position Opening


AMIDEAST, an international non-profit education organization in the West Bank and Gaza, is seeking a qualified candidate for the following part-time position in its El-Bireh office facility in the Ramallah district of the West Bank:
 

West Bank Educational Advising Assistant


This opportunity is a one year (renewable) part-time position (24 hours per week) that includes paid vacation, holiday, and sick leave, as well as health insurance.

The Advising Assistant will be based in AMIDEAST’s EducationUSA Advising Center in El-Bireh, but will travel regularly throughout the West Bank and East Jerusalem in support of EducationUSA outreach activities.  S/he will receive administrative supervision and programmatic guidance from the West Bank Educational Adviser.  The Advising Assistant will be responsible for organizing and supporting EducationUSA related activities including outreach visits, college fairs and webinars; provide email and telephone support to institutions and individual requests for EducationUSA information, follow-up with EducationUSA advisees, to support and ensure; timely completion and submission of required documents for the U.S. college application process. The incumbent will also monitor, update, and provide West Bank input into all EducationUSA related social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and webinars; draft and update fact sheets and other information packages for advisees in Arabic and English.
The monthly salary for this position is 2,500 NIS.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
   
-An undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree in education or related social sciences;
-At least two years of relevant work experience;
-Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic, and the ability to deliver oral and written presentations in either language with minimal additional assistance;
-Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills;
-Excellent communication skills;
-Ability to multi-task in a busy workplace environment;
-Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and be self-directed and motivated;
-Positive attitude, and ability to work well with others;
-Strong computer skills (i.e. proficiency in Microsoft office applications like email, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint);
-Strong knowledge of social media applications, including Facebook and Twitter; and
-Ability to obtain a permit to travel to Jerusalem for work purposes.
Preferred:   
-A graduate of a U.S. higher education institution and/or alumnus/alumna of a U.S. government sponsored exchange or scholarship program, or other educational experience in the United States; and
-Knowledge of or experience with guiding students in researching and applying to U.S. higher education institutions and/or scholarship opportunities.
