Emergency Response Manager
ActionAid is an international organisation, working with over 25 million people in more than 40 countries for a world free from poverty and injustice. ActionAid Palestine is a part of the ActionAid International Federation.
ActionAid is seeking a qualified person to fill the position of Emergency Response Manager for 12months period(extendable). The post location is Gaza with travel to the West Bank.
Start Date: immediately.
The key responsibilities for this position will be as follows:
-Represent ActionAid and promote the organization in relevant humanitarian coordination meetings and forums.
-Ensure AA’s principles and approach to emergencies are integrated into the response and incorporates key aspects of AA’s work in emergencies (including HRBA, women’s leadership, accountability, links to longer term development, etc.)
-Ensure emergency response programme is linked to a medium to longer term strategy of AA Palestine with clear hand over/phase out plan
-Develop funding proposals, in conjunction with relevant functions from ActionAid International and AA Palestine SMT
-Ensure timely and quality delivery of the response activities according to the Emergency Response Plan.
-Produce high quality, timely project and donor reports.
-Build capacity of partners to develop programmes that effectively link emergency response to longer term programmes
-Manage and guide the staff of the emergency responses program to ensure that they are appropriately trained and can carry out their responsibilities to the required standards
-Lead the development of an effective monitoring and information system of the program.
Eligible applicants are required to have the following qualifications and skills:
-Bachelor Degree in humanitarian, social sciences, development studies or management. Masters Degree in any relevant social sciences discipline from a recognized institution is preferred.
-At least 5 years relevant experience in a multi-culture working environment, of which 3 years must be in a senior programme / large scale project management position.
-Experience in designing, setting up and coordinating the monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment systems and processes of an emergency response programme.
-In-depth understanding of Human Rights Based Approach and humanitarian emergency responses
-Excellent understanding of development partnerships, fund-raising, reporting, donor strategies, functions, governmental and international relations in the country
-Excellent planning, organisation, time management, and coordination -Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic an advantage
-Good Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
-Work on own initiative with minimum supervision and to stay on task
-Work under pressure and tight deadlines
-Travel frequently to West Bank
