Engineer, Basic Education Activity - West Bank/Gaza
Summary
Save the Children is seeking an Engineer for the four-year USAID-funded Basic Education Activity which will strengthen non-governmental education services for Palestinian children of Kindergarten through Grade 6 allowing them to thrive and reach their full developmental potential. Under the Basic Education Activity, the consortium will work with the private sector, non-formal, non-governmental, community-based, and civil society partners to strengthen non-governmental early childhood and primary educational opportunities through high quality early childhood education services and supplemental support structures to strengthen foundational pre-primary and primary education for children in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem.
The Engineer will be responsible for conducting site visits, overseeing the design, implementation and acceptance of the non-structural cosmetic and beautification work according to the environmental and safety standards as well rehabilitation activities and other types of school-related infrastructure. The Engineer will also be responsible for quality assurance requirements. Their duties include using software programs to design structural blueprints, while adhering to construction laws and environmental constraints, visiting construction sites to monitor the building process, oversee contractors’ work and ensure adherence to quality assurance requirements.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering.
- Licensed Civil Engineer.
- Minimum five years’ experience in the construction/rehabilitation of educational and WASH facilities.
- Experience working with international donors.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluency in Arabic.
- Working level knowledge of English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in relevant field.
- Practicing engineering work in the West Bank and/or Gaza
- Experience working with USAID projects.
