Job summary:
Bayader in partnership with Catholic Relief Services CRS, is on the process to starts implementation of a project that provides rapid and responsive multi-purpose cash, food assistance, shelter and settlements (S&S), water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), and protection support to conflict-affected communities in Gaza. The project’s goal is to ensure that conflict-affected households in Gaza meet their immediate needs and strengthen their capacity to shocks. Given the rapidly evolving emergency and changing security environment, a flexible approach is envisioned to be continually adapted in response to field conditions. The project’s objectives are:
- Conflict-affected households meet their basic needs, including food.
- Conflict-affected households live in safe and dignified shelters with access to WASH services.
- Conflict-affected households have improved wellbeing through psychosocial support activities.
Bayader is seeking highly skilled staff to be hired for the following position:
Position Title: Facilitators Hygiene Promotion (Promotors for WASH) (FHP)) – Part Time (80%)
# of Position Available: 8
Place: Bayader Office, Khan Younis
Reports To: Program Coordinator (PC)
Duration: 8 Months
Targeted Area: Khan Younis Area, currently at Almawassi and subject to change within Khan Younis area per the changed on security context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with communities to assess their knowledge, practices, and attitudes toward hygiene, sanitation, and safe water use.
- Mobilize community members to participate in hygiene promotion activities and WASH projects.
- Form or work with existing community hygiene committees to promote sustainable hygiene practices.
- Conduct awareness sessions on hygiene and sanitation, covering topics such as handwashing, safe water storage, waste management, and disease prevention.
- Use various tools like drama, role-playing, and participatory techniques to disseminate hygiene messages effectively.
- Support the distribution of hygiene kits and demonstrate their proper use to the community.
- Assist in developing and disseminating educational materials, posters, and pamphlets to support behavior change related to hygiene and sanitation.
- Promote good hygiene practices through campaigns, community events, and household visits.
- Monitor changes in community behavior regarding hygiene practices and report improvements or issues.
- Conduct surveys, assessments, and focus group discussions to gather information on hygiene practices, WASH needs, and health risks in the community.
- Regularly report on activities conducted, community response, and challenges faced.
- Support in identifying vulnerable individuals or groups who may need special attention in WASH programs.
- Work closely with WASH engineers and other technical teams to coordinate hygiene promotion activities with water and sanitation infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with local health authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of WASH activities.
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and new WASH approaches.
- Train community hygiene promoters, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to continue promoting hygiene practices.
- Carry others tasks requested by Project Coordinator.

Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from accreted university with at least good grade in public health, environmental health, Social Work, or related fields with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of
- Experience working within the NGO sector at least 1 years and a strong background in initiating and implementing programs.
- Ability to engage community key figures, potential stakeholders to forge productive working relationships,
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills, and proven ability to build effective working relationships with community stakeholders.
- Proven writing skills to prepare quality and analytical reports in English & Arabic.
- Ability to frequently travel to target locations as needed.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multi-tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be available to work with varied schedules including extensive afternoons and weekends as needed.
